Treat Anwar With Decorum And Respect He Deserves - Najib

KUALA LUMPUR, July 17 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said police must always treat Parti Keadilan Rakyat advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim with 'a degree of decorum and respect that he deserves.'
He said he did not want the people to have apprehension about how the police were handling Anwar's case.
Commenting on Anwar's arrest yesterday, Najib said, it was up to the police to act "as long as they follow the procedures and whatever protocols that have to be followed."
"We should be transparent so that there will be no apprehension about what the police are doing, and we must always treat Datuk Seri Anwar with a degree of decorum and respect that he deserves," he said when asked to comment on Anwar's arrest.
He was met by reporters after launching the Malaysian Education and Career Expo 2008 and the logo for the F500 Powerboat World Championship Series at the Putra World Trade Centre here Thursday.
Najib said the government did not interfere in Anwar's arrest.
"That is police matters. We don't go into the details of instructing the police on how to go about it. It is up to them to use their discretions as to what kind of intervention that is necessary on their part.
"You can address that question to the police," said Najib.
Anwar was arrested yesterday in connection with the investigation into a sodomy allegation by his former aide.
He was released on police bail today.

tunku ; no matter how gentle you try to be with devil, the devil will never appreciate you.fine, we want the police to treat anwar with decorum and respect but at the same time we want anwar and his supporters to treat police with respect too.you have to respect others if you want others to respect you.anwar is accusing the police since day one.his right hand man, azmin ali which provides his wife to anwar call the police as 'anjing'(dog). i think that if they do not gives due respect to the police, the police should not respect them too.

nah..even if the PKR ppl are rude to the police, the police should still follow the proper procedures and show themselves to be higher than these bullying thugs. Point is, Anwar is no different than ordinary citizens, and no one is above the law. So he should be treated exactly as how anyone else under the situation would be. And not complain about it afterwards. Looks like Pak Lah kept his words, no black eye.

the thing here is that Anwar himself is majorly rude to the police force. Since the sodomy charge, Anwar's been tarnishing the police's image non-stop.
How would you think the police feels?

Hello tunku,

Basically we are all humans. When it comes human rights, they should be treated fairly although he is an mighty evil person.

So, what wrong with it. Yeah I know that he will never appreciate the kind that we will offer to him. But still we are taught with kind manners and civil ethics that made us the right human being we should be. Revenging on his actions would not make any differences to change the current situation.
