Selangor exco may get Toyota Camry

SHAH ALAM: The Selangor Government is now hinting that it may choose the Toyota Camry as the official cars for its state executive councillors.
State executive councillor for Local Government, Studies and Research Ronnie Liu said the choice was appropriate as the price of the car was reasonable and maintenance cost not high.
“Personally, I feel the Toyota Camry is the best choice and have made the suggestion to the Mentri Besar (Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim).
“However, he has not made a decision. But I feel there won’t be any objection as the Toyota Camry is much cheaper than the Mercedes,” he told reporters here yesterday. – Bernama

tunku : i am sure the pakatan will oppose to this idea if it is the bn' s getting toyota camry. so khalid, buy malaysian first.show example to the selangorians as you are the leader of your state. do not follow the bad example.

My God, what has happen in Malaysia actually?
OK, good thing that the gov is now cutting cost for the sake of rakyat.. but to ride in style.. what is that all about?

Is the elected state government trying to tell us that we drove an unsafe car? and its ok for rakyat to drive unsafe car. but not for the exco? why is that a double standard ?

if a perdana FC is high, buy a Waja.. and if care sooo much about FC, but a Savvy.

why must u all drive in comfort and style?

what's next? Bently for Menteris' Rolls Royce for DPM and PM?

"Merc too expensive, why don we buy Toyota Camry instead..." what is that man?
Oh My God, Rakyat merana, Ketua Selesa.

If u want to save cost.... BUY A BICYCLE!!!! (cilok from RED.fm)

Well, looks like soon all the exco's will change their cars instead of using protons. What is your explanation about this TDM? People are starting to think of higher maintenance if proton cars are used. This is a soft motion of insulting the brand of our national cars quality, as we all know that government representatives should use national cars as examples to the public.

I see nothing wrong for federal and state administration personnel to use a Toyota Camry instead of a Proton Perdana on the following grounds:

1. Toyota is assembled and marketed by UMW Holdings, which in turn is a unit of Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB). So it's a national company though Toyota does not enjoy national car status.

2. Ministers and Excos currently use Proton Perdana Executive whose purchase price is around Toyota Camry (inclusive excise duties and taxes), so what the big deal.

3. As a person having used both cars - Camry and Perdana V6 - I must say fuel consumption and maintenance on Camry are cheaper than Perdana V6. In addition, Camry is more comfortable, and this may also lead to them opting to drive instead of fly for 300km-400km travelling, hence lowering travelling costs.

In any decision, I suppose we need to look from a holistic angle, and not to be bogged down by sentiment that only Proton should be used. Because of this sentiment, Proton never wants to improve itself in offering high end cars.

huh?what is this?car-change season ah?

i dont think now is a really good time for all of this.we have enough issues already.furthemore, consult first with Proton first and find ways to solve the maintenance problem.

have we all lose our confidence in Proton?

The season of changing cars is hitting Malaysia. More and more menteri are voicing out their 'needs' to ride in imported cars.
In a way, it's a slap for Tun M. Now, even the menteri are rejecting Proton cars. Wonder what he has to say about this..

Live by example. All of state governments should just use the kereta lembu.Maintenance cost wont become an issue anymore. Only if they are all honest about this maintenance cost. But prefebably still the lembu must be lelbu tempatan.
