KUALA LUMPUR: Anticipation is high that Umno president Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi will make an important announcement on the leadership transition in Umno when he meets the party grassroots at a special briefing Thursday afternoon.Abdullah is expected to make his specific statement yet on the timing of the transition at the 5pm meeting.
Sources said that June 2010 has been considered as a possible date for him to hand over power to his deputy Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
However, the specifics will also depend on the discussions at an Umno supreme council meeting which will precede the special briefing.
tunku : this is what pak lah wants, he wants to stay another 2 years and make his successor life difficult when he faces the next GE.In 2 years time lots of thing can happened.maybe he won't quit , giving excuse that rakyat are with him, najib could be sacked,there are lot possibilities as the time frame is too long.pak lah should go now before the majority get fed up with Umno.najib and muhyiddin should stand now and act before it will bee too late.though the opposition is not a good deal for the rakyat but given no choice , they will vote for them.so now it is umno members responsibilty to change things before its too late.he is hoping by announcing his retirement 2010, there will be no contest for presidency post and of course the deputy post. may be they'll come up with resolution that there will be no contest for the top two post.if that happens then i would like to pledge umno to make pak lah president for life(presiden seumur hidup).

Wow. AAB announcing his retirement in 2010 which is trying to cooldown the chaos caused by mudslinging from both parties over the political issues.
If he was to continue his post for the next 2 years, Najib will have to wait or initiate scenes to change the situation.
Anwar's desperate attempt to take the helm from AAB by september 16 will have sleepless nights to prevent this from happening.
If AAB wants to succeed in continuing lead the FG, he will have to take initiations by realising the reformations promised by him in november 2003 towards the public where he is welcomed with successful GE mandates.

Yes, it is UMNO members and leaders now who can sought the opportunity to knock Pak Lah out. Now!
If then, they want Pak Lah to be UMNO President for Life, well silently enjoy the sufferings daily, because of an opportunity you UMNO members and leaders missed.
When you suffer, other Malaysians suffer too, for life as long as Pak Lah remain as the Problem in Malaysia, and as a Pengkhianat to Malaysians.
I think he's doing this so that for the next 2 years, he will be able to implement the measures that he's wanted to for the country with minimal resistance from within UMNO. The JAC is the best example of a good thing that Pak Lah is trying to implement but met with objection from within vested interest in his own party. I daresay he's not doing this to stay in power, but to consolidate it for now to do what he can with the mandate given by God and for him to make good his promises that he does heed the warning of the people. Is it not high time to stop negative speculation? negativity breeds negativity.
