Furious Samy Vellu Walks Out From Dinner Reception

KUALA LUMPUR, July 11 (Bernama) -- The MIC President's Dinner, hosted for delegates attending the party's annual general meeting Saturday, ended 30 minutes earlier than scheduled, when some delegates were seen walking out of the function at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC).
Furious at the rude exit of the delegates from the PWTC's Dewan Tun Razak, an annoyed Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu also left the function at 9.55pm.
Earlier, the former works minister vowed he would never organise a similar dinner reception, judging by the disinterest shown by the group of delegates who walked out of the dinner hall. "If you (delegates) think this function is a waste of time, then I apologise," said the party president.
About 2,800 delegates comprising party branch leaders, attended the dinner reception which was scheduled to end at 10.30pm.
According to a source who declined to be identified, the dinner reception became unruly when MIC Information chief Datuk M. Saravanan, who is also federal territories deputy minister, left the dinner reception. "As a result, some of his supporters were also seen leaving the premises with the deputy minister," he said.
Earlier, among those seated at the main dinner table with Samy Vellu were former MIC deputy president Datuk S. Subramaniam, secretary-general Datuk Dr S. Subramaniam, who is also human resources minister, deputy president Datuk G. Palanivel, vice-presidents Datuk S. Sothinathan and Datuk S. Veerasingam.

My deareset tunku, why is it that you feel that Pak Lah is so called "thick skinned"? Samy Vellu may be the most easily swayed and easily effected, just because he saw some people walk out he felt the nedd to merajuk and go out too? To have as much dignity n courage as Pak Lah to still stick through despite criticisms (from "certain" parties), I feel that Pak Lah and Samy Vellu is 2 worlds apart

pak lah still stick because if he goes now, scomi will be gone too, and also few other things which has family interest.he needs to make sure everything is ok, nothing that will link him when he retires.
