Stay Calm And Don't Listen To Rumours, PAS Youth Leader Tells Anwar Supporters

KUALA LUMPUR, July 16 (Bernama) -- PAS Youth chief Salahuddin Ayub Wednesday told Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim supporters to stay calm and not to listen to rumours.
He said the rumour that a rally would be held in protest of Anwar's arrest was preposterous because so far no such orders had been issued by top leadership of Pakatan Rakyat.
"Now, I am calling in the name of Pakatan Rakyat for the members and supporters to stay calm over what happened to Anwar.
"The rumour about a rally was not true and don't anyone be influenced by it. Any instruction must come from the top leadership and so far, no such orders have been issued," he said.
Salahuddin also hoped the police would conduct the investigation fairly. He was commenting on the sodomy allegation against Anwar which led to the arrest.
"I hope the incident of 10 years ago will not recur. I don't want him to be beaten up. If we want the people to believe in the present system, a fair investigation should given to Anwar.
"I was also made to understand that Anwar would have gone to the Kuala Lumpur Contingent Police headquarters at 2pm. Had the police waited until 2pm, I feel Anwar would have given cooperation and that was better. So, there is no need for the police to detain him," he said when met at the Parliament lobby.
Meanwhile, Parti Keadilan Rakyat vice president Mohamed Azmin Ali said the police's handling of Anwar was harsh when taking him to the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters as though challenging the Pakatan to stage protests.
"Don't provoke us... I'm giving a strong reminder to the police force. Don't provoke the Rakyat.
"Do they want to repeat the 1998 incident? Couldn't they conduct the investigation properly with kindness and humanely? We are asking... who was responsible? whose order was it, the minister or the inspector-general of police?" he said.

tunku : i guess salahuddin did the right thing. let the police investigates and the rest keep calm.after all he is represented by bunch of lawyers.the lawyers are with him(anwar), the family can see him.not like azmin, he likes to challenge others, now i'm saying to azmin, don't provoke the police, we are giving a strong reminder to you.the rakyat want the police to investigates, only morons like you don't want the investigation to go on, may be you know the truth.

Kudos to Salahuddin, well said. it was pretty foolish for the police to not have waited until 2pm..after "show up at 2, or else..". In any case, Mr Azmin, how was the arrest harsh? he wasn't handcuffed, and when he was going / leaving the HKL he was smiling and waving at his supporters. And stop invoking the name of the rakyat for ur own selfish ends, dun go demo-ing in the name of the "angered people", it's just ur fraction. The people, good ol ordinary citizens are only concerned that u're giving the police more reason to be suspicious and mount another round of road blocks MUCH to the inconvenience to us. so please, DON'T.
