PETALING JAYA: The arrest of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was designed to derail Pakatan Rakyat's plans to take over the government by Sept 16, Opposition leaders claimed.The historic televised debate between Anwar and Information Minister Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek on Tuesday night had produced overwhelming support for the former deputy prime minister, said PKR deputy president Syed Husin Ali.
"The arrest was made to thwart Anwar's plans to contest in a by-election, and to thwart our plans to take over the government by Sept 16," he said at a press conference at the PKR office here on Wednesday.
Anwar was arrested near his home earlier Wednesday. He had just finished giving a statement to the Anti Corruption Agency and was supposed to have been on his way to the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters to answer allegations of sodomy.
tunku : sometimes this opposition talks something that does not make any sense.anwar can still contest in any by election, he is not found guilty of any charges YET and if there is a court hearing for the latest accusation then i think it will take at least a year to end.he has time to do anything or be the next government as louded by him by 16th september.don't tell us that pakatan only banking on anwar to survive ?if that is the case than dap and pas should be dissolved.

good point there. Have they just given legitimacy to the thought that the entire Pakatan is a farce, with Anwar as the glue? he is only the de-facto leader, what of the rest of the capable politicians they have, and most importantly, the de-jure leader of theirs? that they're so paranoid that anything done is a conspiracy by the government against Anwar is beginning to draw 2 conclusions, one is the above, the other, maybe it's true.
Kalau betul boleh ambil alih kerajaan 16 Sept kenapa takut sangat. Takkan sebab takda Anwar sorang tak boleh jadi benda tu? Memang laa harap kat Anwar sorang je, esok2 kalau Anwar tu dah takda, Pakatan Rakyat pun hilang juga. Tak boleh harap laa Pakatan Rakyat ni kalau macam tu, sebab mereka hanya disatukan oleh Anwar saja, kalau Anwar takda semua tak boleh bergabung kot?
