Don't undermine my efforts, says Terengganu MB

KUALA TERENGGANU: State Umno liaison committee chairman Datuk Ahmad Said has cautioned party members against undermining his efforts to unify the party in the state after most branches showed signs of contest for the top division position.
Ahmad seemed disappointed that members were ignoring his earlier advice that there be no contests.
The Mentri Besar, who spoke to state Umno leaders including those in the wings, here on Saturday night renewed his call to members to refrain from taking any action that could split the party and affect its chances in the next general election.
“If you can come to a compromise on the top position at the division, go ahead. We want to unite not split (the state Umno). Please avoid a contest,” he said.
Ahmad also said being division chiefs did not mean that they would automatically be candidates in the 13th general election.
“My style is different, those who are close to the heart of the people, humble and competent would be given the opportunity. So, being a division chief doesn’t mean an automatic ticket as candidate,” he said.
He also stressed that a candidate would not be picked on academic qualifications. Those with the right charisma who got along well with the grassroots would get the nod.
Ahmad, asking members not to stab him in the back, noted that Short Messaging System (SMS) texts and poison pen letters had made the rounds following his directive that there be no contest for the top division posts.
Ahmad said Umno members should focus on winning the 13th general election and to counter the threats from the opposition, and not engage in intra-party tiffs.
“Remember our enemy is the opposition, and this is not the right time to be disunited. But if a contest cannot be avoided, please choose leaders who are favoured by the grassroots,” he said.
It is learnt that six divisions – Kuala Terengganu, Dungun, Marang, Kuala Nerus, Hulu Terengganu and Setiu – will see contests for the top two positions.
However, there are also signs that there could be eleventh hour pullouts

tunku : what type of democracy are we applying now? why we should not allow contest?it's healthy to have contest as the members will get the leader of their choice and hence the party will be stronger.if the members get the leaders they hate or dislike, how can the party fight with the opposition? very stupid call from ahmad said to the trengganu umno members.

i dont care much if they wanted the top position to be contest or not.the real matter is who ever that wanna filled the top position gotta have the right attitude;those who are close to the heart of the people, humble and competent would be given the opportunity.plus the candidates also wholeheartedly accepted by the grassroots.leader who dont have the blessings of grassroots they both might not happily and efficiently work together.

His drastic actions of buying merz could either be 2 reasons:

1-He is a complete moron who never ever before get his butt sit in a luxurious cars liek the merz. He thought that he should have pride in his works, therefore buying luxurious cars reflects his pride.

2-He knew all this along about the internal corruption in the proton high cost maintenance services and tend to use this opportunity to frame Idris Jusoh up, which then justify his previous leadership as the MB in terengganu.

But I know one thing, he is a moron who had created bad images of the government.

Let the contest begins if democracy is still alive in UMNO.

Leaders who issue and share fears, for example, UMNO will split if there is a contest, are leaders taking advantage of this, and disallowing the best, the better, the younger, the ideal, and the true leaders to emerge for the betterment of UMNO and UMNO members.

Look at The Top Two and The Many including President, Deputy, And Vice, in UMNO, do we see Grandpas?

question : How to split a group of member with the same aim and same target?
answer : get them to do an election.

question : What they usually do while contesting for election ?
answer :
a) Bad mouth other candidate during speech/campaign.
b) install a spycam in the other candidate room
c) Spread rumors and poison sms
d) All the above.
e) Convince party members that you are true to the party and your main point is unity of people and if you loose, you will not turn sour grape and still working together for the sake of party.

its ur choice.
hurmm.. lucky I have not register any party before. Just started to flirt with a couple of politics party but have the feeling none of them are true to the party's agenda... more toward personal pocket agenda.
