MUAR, Aug 1 (Bernama) -- Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said Friday he would soon announce whether he would defend his post of Umno vice-president or go for a higher post in the party elections in December."Wait for it. I will announce my decision soon," he told reporters after chairing a meeting of the Permatang Pasir Umno Branch in Bukit Pasir here.
The latest talk is that Muhyiddin would only defend the post of vice-president but several Umno branches in the country have suggested that he go for the post of deputy president while the Kampung Desa Jaya branch in the Johor Baharu division had passed a resolution wanting him to go for the post of president.
Muhyiddin, who is the Pagoh Umno Division head, said he was obtaining feedback from Umno divisions before making up his mind.
Earlier, in his speech, Muhyiddin said party members or delegates should elect leaders who could contribute to the party and government.
He also called on all quarters in Umno to focus on efforts to rehabilitate the party.

Kau kena bertanding jawatan Presiden.Harapan pada Najib untuk bertanding telah tiada kerana dia sendiri tidak mahu.Yang penting ada pertandingan jawatan presiden. Ahli UMNO telah bosan dengan kepimpinan sekarang. Tidak kesahlah sama ada pertandingan dua penjuru @ 3 penjuru yang penting kau mesti tanding jawatan presiden.Ahli UMNO tidak suka kepada Presiden yang menang tanpa bertanding atau yang dilantik.
Muhyiddin Yassin can put UMNO members above self and knocked Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, or be grouped into 3-the-same lot with Mohd Najib Abdul Razak too.
What a disappointment! Kecewa gila! Tapi mungkin Muhyiddin ada sebabnya yang tersendiri.
