US Snipes On Malaysia Not Based On Laws

KUALA KLAWANG, Aug 9 (Bernama) -- The United States' snipes on Malaysia are not based on laws but rather on one individual and that is Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, said Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim.
As such, he said, the US was not being impartial and displayed interference in the internal affairs of a foreign country.
"If they want to talk about laws we can give a good explanation. Their views are not sincere and go against international laws," he told reporters here after attending a briefing on the development of the Jelebu district.
Rais, who is Jelebu Member of Parliament, said he will write a letter to the United Nations Secretary-General next week putting forward Malaysia's strong views on the US attitude and calling on that country to refrain from making skewed statements though the media about Malaysia's judicial system.
"I don't care for the relationship between them (the US) and Anwar...that's their right but do not use the interests of one person and find fault with our judicial system.
"Now they are surprised when Anwar is given bail after being charged in court and his passport was not impounded. Anwar has to answer to a charge of sodomy. In Malaysia sodomy is a crime so the US must understand our laws," he said.
Rais said under the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UNDHR) each country must respect the laws of another and not interfere in internal affairs.
"This means they do not understand the UNDHR and so they interfere in our internal affairs. I think this is a violation which cannot be ignored," he said.


tunku : usa is not interested in our law or any laws. all they are interested in is their interest. anwar is the man of their interest in malaysia. so whether anwar is a crook or not, they don't care as long as anwar serve them good.after all sodomy, homosexuality to them is just a normal because they have no value and moral.
