Anwar Still Refuses To Swear On His Innocence

BUKIT MERTAJAM, Aug 25 (Bernama) -- Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim still refuses to swear according to Islam, to prove his innocence that he did not sodomise former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan.
Instead, he continues to question Mohd Saiful Bukhari's sincerity in making the "sumpah laknat" (swearing in the face of divine retribution), as well as maintaining that the matter be decided by the Syariah Court.
"Let the people say that I am immoral for not wanting to swear.
"I don't care since it is not going to solve anything because the swearing should only be done when the court has no evidence to make a charge," he told a press conference at the Aman Foundation building here Monday.
Anwar had been saying that he would not swear, claiming he was advised by renowned religious scholars worldwide, including Yusof Qarhdawi, not to do so.
Mohd Saiful Bukhari had on Aug 15, sworn on the Quran that Anwar sodomised him.

tunku : only guilty person will refuse to swear when it would clear some doubt.we are not saying that swearing will solve the case but it will clear our doubt but the stubbornness of anwar to swear shows that he is guilty and he's afraid to swear.

He's correct by saying that an oath doesnt resolve anything.but it's a way to convince the people if one in the right side or not.what more peculiar is that he refused to heed the urge by Islamic scholars that acknowledged such oath.

Betul...
