Anwar braces for 'massive' vote-rigging

Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim said today he was bracing for "massive" vote-rigging by the government to block him from winning a key by-election, which could propel him back to power.
Anwar will launch his election campaign later today in his hometown state of Penang, despite the looming threat of arrest on sodomy allegations - which he has insisted are a political smear.
The former deputy premier, who was jailed on sodomy charges a decade ago, got the chance to run for parliament in a special by-election when his wife announced last week she was giving up her seat in Permatang Pauh.
"If Umno-Barisan Nasional decide to (play) rough with massive funding and bribery, then we will have to be really prepared," Anwar told reporters.
He said under "normal conditions" it would be easy to retain the seat, which was held by his wife Wan Azizah Wan Ismail - the official leader of his PKR party - for 10 years.
"That has been our base for a long time," Anwar said of Permatang Pauh, which he himself had held for 17 years when he was in Umno.
"How rough they want to play and how is the Election Commission going to conduct the elections, these issues we are going to study."
"We are not taking it for granted," he added.

tunku : i guess anwar can counter any amount of money that will be spent in permatang pauh by barisan nasional. he has all the support from foreign friends which can double the amount anytime. so cut this crap anwar, you know that without hard campaigning you will still win permatang pauh seat, that is why you wants to contest there(the safest on earth for anwar).

Agree. DSAI knew that he would win even with a close eye. Fundings? He got sponsored by foreign countries, so no worries for him about fundings. What is left for him is just the gain of trust from publics.

A speech said just to give an expression of danger and 'excitement' to rakyat, but we all know your tactic Anwar, save the frilly speech!
We know the only reason you want to even contest back is because you want the power, it was never about the rakyat, never about the oil price or whatever stuff that he mentioned before.
So based on what ground he will definitely hold up his ever increasing 'janji'?....none.

A pathetic speech to match his pathetic attempt to be the PM of Malaysia.
'Sudah-sudah lah tu Anwar.'
The rakyat is getting bored with your antics.
Too much noise resulted to never ending headache for us.

Biasalah, Anwar Ibrahim kan..Bab pusing2 cakap buat fitnah memang nombor satu. Dia memang terkenal dengan pandai mengubah cerita negatif terhadap dia jadi positif. Kalau menang dia cakap laa rakyat memang menyokong dia untuk perubahan. Kalau kalah cakap laa ada orang main kotor. Memang dah perangai Anwar macam tu, nak buat macam mana. Macam2 mana pun dia menang jugak, dah muak tengok perangai dia ni.
