BUKIT MERTAJAM, Aug 18 (Bernama) -- Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he was short of campaign funds and could not even sponsor drinks or meals for supporters who turn up at his ceramahs (political rallies)."Thousands (of supporters) come but they don't even get water. I cannot afford it...I also do not have shares or land," he told about 100 people who turned up for his ceramah at Kampung Belah Dua, Permatang Pauh here last night.
At each of his ceramah, the hat is passed around to collect money from supporters to finance his campaign in the run up to the Permatang Pauh by-election on Aug 26.
Anwar is also always seen being driven around in a beige Mercedes S320 for his ceramahs, which he denies is his.
"It belongs to my father. If you don't believe ask Azizah (his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who is also PKR president)," he said.
At another ceramah in Bukit Jelutong in Permatang Pasir here, Anwar advised his supporters to stay within the limits of campaigning and to always cooperate with the police.
"I am not anti-Police. Do as they (police) say as long as they are doing their jobs. We do not want violence, we are striving to bring about change," he told the 5,000 odd people present.
The supporters responded with shouts of "reformasi" (reformation). Overhead a police helicopter made its rounds to ensure everything was within control.
The Permatang Pauh by-election will see a three-cornered fight with Anwar taking on the Barisan Nasional's Datuk Arif Shah Omar Shah and Hanafi Mamat of Angkatan Keadilan Insan Malaysia (Akim).
tunku : so the S320 belongs to your father, from where your father got the money to buy it? he was not a businessman or rich man before you became minister,deputy pm. after you became the dpm, suddenly your father became many companies director , one of them were IOI group. if you don't have money how come you can afford to build new bungalow at segambut heights, owing many luxuries car , having many bodyguards etc.i guess lying is in his blood, he can do/live without it.you need not seek cheap sympathy in permatang pauh as you will win there, no doubt about it or you have lost confidence.i wonder why you have lost confidence? may be you know what your faith or new future will be.

Its clear that he try to gain a cheap sympathy from the public. By this then he could use this reason to manipulate the government by saying that they are wasting too much money on political campaign which are the rakyat's money. This is just a dirty tactics to condemn the government's activity for the coming election.

how much did he give to the poor. No wonder PM & son in law can go enjoy2 in Australia every year......
My humble opinion, for the betterment of Rakyat Jelata and Malaysia as a whole, we desperately need two strong parties system in order to make either side sit straight. Don't enslave the Rakyat, don't enact policies and sign stupid agreements sesuka hati like nobody business, resources and funding suppose to be channel to the grassroots have been abused and siphoned to enrich certain groups, PM leadership is weak and that's why so much misappropriation in his administration, etc etc. The outcome of PRU12 and the cries of Rakyat on the street speak for itself. Malaysia deserves 8% growth per year in this land of abundance.
it's not easy being a politician,you know.one dont even dream to become a politician if they dont have money/wealth to support their political carier.i dont know how Anwar can survive until now without having any source of income.

pak mertua dia jadi pengerusi beberapa syarikat memang salah anwar. sepatutnya ahli keluarga x boleh terima apa2 jawatan. itu kalau ikut cara khalifah islam. tapi dia dah kena penjara/balasan atas kesilapan.

Suddenly can't afford to finance the by-election but still can afford to lug around in S320. That's quite big car with a big engine, how do you pay for the gas?
Is this because people always talking about the big financing you receive from your mothership?
Anwar is second to none on playing tunes with sentiments in garnering supports and symphathy. He thrives on publicity. On "acting", he is the best. Rahim and Tok Mat Taib can testify on this point.
