Anwar Still Adamant About Refusing To Swear

BUKIT MERTAJAM, Aug 23 (Bernama) -- Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is still refusing to swear by the Quran despite the calls by various groups to clear his name.
He cited the same reason that he had been advised by ulama not to do so and to refer the sodomy charge against him to the syariah court.
"I insist on following the syariah law and court," he told reporters after visiting the Wanita PKR operations room at Sungai Semambu, near here Saturday.
"(Now) if I were to blast people with explosives, kill people, I swear I did not do it. How can this be (allowed). It has to be investigated and follow the process of prosecution. Swearing is one thing, but investigation must also be carried out," he said, apparently reacting to the swearing by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak last night that he did not know nor had any relationship with Mongolian woman Altantuya Shaariibuu who was murdered at Puncak Alam, Selangor in 2006.
In his Permatang Pauh by-election campaign, Anwar had alleged that Najib had a relationship with the Mongolian woman.
Anwar's former aide, Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, 23, had accused his former boss of sodomising him and had sworn on the Quran regarding the sodomy at the Federal Territory Mosque in Jalan Duta, Kuala Lumpur on Aug 15.
Anwar had referred Saiful's allegation against him to the Kuala Lumpur Syariah Court in July.

tunku : no one has said that if you swear you are 100% not guilty but to swear upon ALLAH is not a joke too.if they lied, they will face the consequences from ALLAH. the only think we don't understand is why anwar is so scared to swear upon ALLAH ???? come on anwar, i know you will swear at least before 26th august.there were rumours that you will swear on 22nd august which you didn't, so let us hope that you will swear by monday 25th august.

looks like anwar will not. he may have his reasons. matters are in both syariah and civil courts now. will this swearing business resolve these matters in court? i don't think so. why waste time, then. just go the court and have this matter solved. malaysians have enough of this personal matters affecting the country.

dear tunku

speaking to many umno members in permatng pauh and elsewhere who hate pak lah they share something in common. they want anwar to win with a big majority to finish off pak lah. they don't want khairy either. they are against ezam condemning anwar. a win by BN will boost pak lah's position. even a reduced majority will be a boost to pak lah. they don't want this to happen. a landslide victory for anwar will force pak lah to leave earlier. this is the true game in this permatang pauh by-election. now i see why many BN stalls are deserted... why nalla is booed.... why mukhriz is not around. practicall BN machinery is not working here.

He knew very well that he can lie to the whole world but not to God.
It does not matter now whether he swear or not bcoz more people now believe he did it.
Like they say you can lie to some people some time, all people some time but certainly not all people all the time.
Goodbye Anwar!

i dont care if he's going to swear or not.what really counts is he tells the truth at the court!

everyone wanna do the swearing right now as if it's the trend now.swearing to tell truth is alright but swearing to hide behind the truth aint a courageous act.
