MIRI : A dinner gathering which was initially scheduled to be held on Aug 23 has been postponed to Sept 16.This was announced yesterday by the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) publicity chief for Piasau branch, Tony Chai.
He said the postponement was necessary owing to the Permatang Pauh by-election in which the party's de facto leader and advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was involved.
"Most of the party's leaders,including Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim himself, will not be able to attend the function as it falls withing the campaign period,"Chai explained.
The gathering, themed 'Malam PKR' (PKR Night), is organised by te party's Piasau branch with an aim to celebrate the second anniversary of the formation of the branch.
Chai called on those who had bought the dinner tickets to come out on Sept 16 to show their support.
Those who haven't yet been able to obtain tickets may call the treasurer William Chong Hon Piaw, the pro tem committee chairman at 016-8742967.
According to Chai, the event was scheduled to have no less than half a dozen speakers both from the central and state committee.
Among those speaking at the event are the State PKR chairman,Dominique Ng who is Padungan assemblyman and PKR vice president Tian Chua.
Chai said the gathering will be quite a significant one with Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and party president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah as the guest of honour.
Nurul Izzah,MP for Lembah Pantai, members from Limbang,Sibu,Kuching and Bintulu were also expected.
The event would also be open to the public.
tunku : i thought anwar said that he's going to form new government on the 16th Sept, so how will he attend the gathering in Miri? he should be in kl or putrajaya at that time.can it be that the member don't believe him ? that is why they are organizing the dinner on the 16th Sept. either anwar is moron or the members, may be all of them.they are making fool of each other and tries hard to fool malaysian at large.

Ahh, what can we expect from Anwar dear tunku? They are just using psychological warfare to extract attentions of all the BN goons towards Sabah. The previous GE tells it all. There's how they succeed in gaining the 5 states from the government. Smart, eh?
But my analysis showed that Anwar will able to enter parliement, but will never achieve his dream of becoming the PM. There are certain reasons why I said like this but I would not like to reveal it in this comment. Perhaps later on.
But again, politics are just about timing. I think BN is taking all the necessary cautions in PR's steps and actions. They might not be fooled by the PR again.
i'm really curious what other Pakatan Rakyat supporters gonna say about this.
A dinnir nite that gonna be attended by some speakers and dont ever think that the speakers gonna speaks for "free".Plane ticket is not cheap and the speakers also must have an appropriate accomodation.food and drinks must be served to them.and i'm not suprised if the speakers gonna received few souvenirs.
plane ticket,accomodation,food and drinks - does this gonna be viewed as necessity or some sort of "bribery" by the PR people?.If BN were gonna held such event,i'm sure PR personnels gonna say such things as a form of bribey.

That is what all about, LOMPAT, the only LOMPAT we will see on that particular date is Anwar going to make a big LOMPAT from KL to Miri...lompat for a dinner function, thats all.....
