Legal System Which Anwar Discredits Works In His Favour

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 7 (Bernama) -- Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is a strong critic of the country's legal and security systems which he has time and again alleged as being unjust and could be manipulated to serve the interest of certain quarters.
That has been the battle cry of the Parti Keadilan Rakyat advisor especially after facing a sodomy allegation from his former aide, Mohamad Saiful Bukhari Azlan in June.
However, the legal system worked to his favour when he walked out of a court on RM20,000 personal bond without surety after he pleaded not guilty to a charge of sodomising Saiful.
Anwar, who turns 61 on Sunday and is expected to stand in the Permatang Pauh by-election on Aug 26, was charged with sodomising Saiful, 23, between 3.01pm and 4.30pm on June 26 at Unit 11-5-1 Desa Damansara Condominium, Jalan Setiakasih, Bukit Damansara here.
The court also did not order the former deputy prime minister, who was charged under Section 377B of the Penal Code, to surrender his international passport before his case is brought for mention on Sept 10.
Judge Komathy exercised her discretion under Section 388 of the Penal Code in freeing him pending the hearing.
The legal system has been executed in a restrained manner since Saiful lodged a police report.
Police also did not used force in getting a statement from Anwar including when he was asked to give his DNA sample.
The attentive way in which police conducted themselves showed even until they served a subpoena to Anwar, at his residence in Segambut Dalam here, to appear in court today.
It was a far cry from what had happened to him when he was arrested at his residence in Bukit Damansara on the alleged sodomy of his wife's driver, Azizan Abu Bakar in 1998.
The police's special action squad in masks stormed the house to arrest Anwar, then.
S.N. Nair, one of nine Anwar's counsels, said judge Komathy had used her discretion fairly and without fear to release his client on bail.
The decision also did not stop Anwar from campaigning and contesting in the Permatang Pauh parliamentary by-election on Aug 26.
According to the constitution, although Anwar was facing a sodomy charge, he could stand in the by-election as long as he was not found guilty by the court.
Even Clause 48 (1) (e) of the Federal Constitution stipulates that a person will only be barred from contesting in any election if he is jailed for more than a year.
Ironically, Anwar is scheming to make a political comeback under a legal and security system which he has time and again alleged of being unjust, not transparent and could be manipulated.
Former Unitar's dean of Humanities and Social Science Faculty Prof Datuk Ibrahim Ahmad Bajunid said the court action proved that Anwar was not denied his right as a citizen.
"We have to admit what is good and right is definitely good and right and what is not good and not right as definitely not good and not right. Not everything is a conspiracy," he said.
What is important, he said, the people wanted transparency and not being hoodwinked.
"The people want to see a highly civilised and refined political practice while the Islamic principles and democracy are upheld. The people do not want to be misled by any quarters," he said.
If what Ibrahim said is anything to go by, Anwar should stop accusing whatever happened to him as a conspiracy to stop him in his track from making a come back to the political arena.
Ibrahim said the people wanted to have leaders who could be examples to the younger generation.

tunku : my question here is why it is only applies on anwar's case ? why special treatment to anwar? why don't the so called good system applies to everyone ? there is no point being nice to this moron, the more you be nice to him the more he attacks you.

US Paying Close Attention To Anwar's Case

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 7 (Bernama) -- The United States embassy here has expressed hope that the rule of law will be applied fairly and transparently in the process of prosecuting Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
In a statement today, the embassy said that transparent and impartial application of the law in this case was critical to continue confidence in Malaysia's democratic institutions, particularly its legal and judical systems.
"The United States is paying close attention to the situation as are many other friends of Malaysia," it said.
Anwar, 60, pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to a charge of sodomising his former but was later freed on RM20,000 personal bond without surety.

tunku : this moron country , the US of A will never learn but we can't blame them as their agent is being prosecuted here. so they will need to monitor the situation and report back to their boss which is also the boss of the moron anwar.

Not US but CIA or maybe Hollywood best-known directors. Certainly not Bollywood because Amitabh Bachan never favour this kind of hero. Well, only Rahim Nor knows what is best fit for this moron. The first bumiputera with blue eye (of course it turned black then). So the themes of the defence are conspiracy, why me, sabotage, ect.... Malaysians are not stupidlah moron.
