SINGAPORE: Some Barisan Nasional component party leaders' comments about the possibility of their parties leaving Barisan has Umno vice-president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin concerned.
“The is a new trend we have not seen in the past and this time around it is being done openly. I am concerned about that,” Muhyiddin told reporters, referring to remarks made by MCA and Gerakan leaders recently.
“Are these remarks brought up because of sheer disappointment? They have to explain,” he said, adding that any random survey would show that there was a mindset shift among the rakyat and not merely in Permatang Pauh.
Muhyiddin said Barisan should not underestimate the changes that are taking place.
“We can have a dialogue with the component parties but what else can we do? That is what we should be asking ourselves.
“The format in Umno and BN is not right and change should not just be in the form but also in the content,” Muhyiddin said.
“Umno also cannot stand alone. There are weaknesses within Umno but weaknesses also exist within the component parties,” he added.
Meanwhile, in Kuala Lumpur, Jerlun MP Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir said the outcome of the Permatang Pauh by-election was a wake-up call for Barisan, especially Umno, that much had to be done to regain the public's support.
Mukhriz said one of the major factors that impacted the by-election was the announcement by the country’s top two leaders that there would be a power transfer only in 2010.
“This means business as usual for another two years. For the rakyat, they feel it is too much to swallow,” he said.
“On the Umno side and Barisan, we also feel very exasperated because it is as if we have not started moving towards re-engineering and re-inventing Umno and Barisan.”
tunku : enough of worries and talks. now is the time for action. we hope leaders up there like muhyiddin and najib stands up when it matters the most.the time is now. don't just ding dong here and there.once people are fed up and gives up, then you left with nothing.anyway about the pullout i guess sabah and sarawak has voiced their stand on this matter.sarawak politician said that they are from hornbills land not frogs , sabah too pledge their full commitments with bn .now left bn components parties in peninsular to give assurances.

Since component parties in Sabah and Sarawak already pledged their undivided devotion to BN,it's time for component parties in peninsular to prove their loyalty as well.
there's no need to ask anyone to step down swiftly.just work together and resolves matters within UMNO/BN.if they find solution and agrees to work harder for the betterment of the party, the nation and the party, then they can expect hopefully to gain back confidence that's now day by seems fading away.
The goal of a political party is to SERVE the country and its citizen to bring about progress to the nation and the well-being of the people as a whole. It should also strive to provide welfare and effort to uplift the social, educational and economic foundation of the backward section of its citizen so that they can improve their social and economic status in the long run. But when a political party is biased in promoting only the interest of the party as well as a selected group, this will only cause disunity which has happened in many troubled countries in the world. If the ruling UMNO/BN cannot fathom this simple logic how then can they make our country Malaysia to be a great nation? How can such racial politic unite the nation? If our present young and old politicians cannot understand this simple notion, how can they claim they can nuture the future unity of the nation for the future generation? Such racial politic is just the selfish means of selfish politicians to serve their own agenda instead of the agenda to make Malaysia into a great nation.
