BN Youth Members Of Parliament Pledge Loyalty To BN

BUKIT MERTAJAM, Aug 24 (Bernama) -- Umno Youth head Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein Sunday led all the 20 members of Parliament from the Barisan Nasional (BN) Youth in a pledge of loyalty to show the solid bond between the component parties of the coalition.
Hishammuddin, who is also the BN Youth chairman, said the pledge of loyalty to the party was also written proof of the stand of the party's wing previously, and at the same time refuted claims by the Pakatan Rakyat that there were BN members who would leave the party to join the opposition.
"We have all signed a declaration and pledged our loyalty not to leave the party, this is a written proof to refute all the allegations that had cropped up earlier," he told a media conference, here.
Earlier, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim claimed that there were BN members who would leave the party to join the opposition to form a new government on Sept 16.
The pledge of loyalty was read by the member of Parliament for Petra Jaya, Fadillah Yusof.
Referring to polling day on Tuesday, Hishammuddin reminded the BN machinery to be more disciplined as the Permatang Pauh parliamentary by-election had become the focus of world attention.
As such, he stressed that the party machinery should not be easily swayed by the provocations of the opposition.
"Now, the whole world is focusing on the by-election, so, don't bring shame to the country by imitating their (opposition's) style. Let the by-election go smoothly without any shameful incidents," he said.
The Permatang Pauh parliamentary by-election is being held following the resignation of the incumbent member of parliament, Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who is also PKR president, to enable Anwar to contest the seat.
The by-election will see a three-cornered fight between Anwar, the BN candidate Datuk Arif Shah Omar Shah and Angkatan Keadilan Islam Malaysia (Akim) president Hanafi Mamat.
