ACA to record statements from PM, DPM

GEORGE TOWN: The Anti- Corruption Agency will soon record the statements of the Prime Minister and his deputy over a report lodged against them by an Umno veteran.
ACA director-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Said Hamdan said investigations into an allegation of power abuse by the two leaders in the run-up to the Umno elections this December have already started.
"All our investigations, which are facts-based, are carried out without fear or favour and in a transparent manner regardless of the person's status and our arrest track record speaks for itself," he said.
On Tuesday, former Umno Youth exco member and Selangor veteran leader Datuk Mazlan Harun lodged an ACA report against Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and his deputy Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
He had said the complaint was to alert the ACA on possible abuse of power in the run-up to party elections in December.
It is learnt that the report was based on an open letter written by Umno Petaling Jaya Selatan division chief Kapt (Rtd) Datuk Zahar Hashim to the party’s secretary-general demanding that Abdullah and Najib be disciplined for allegedly abusing their power.
Ahmad said anyone could lodge a report but must not disclose the contents of the report to the media as it would jeopardise investigations.
"This is actually an offence under the Anti-Corruption Act.
"Action can be taken against the complainant if the report is not true or made with malice. We will not hesitate to charge the person in court," he said.
Ahmad Said was speaking to reporters Wednesday after attending the TYT Challenge Trophy Shooting Competition at the Penang Rifle Club in Jalan Kebun Bunga here.
On the report against Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan and Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail over Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s black-eye incident 10 years ago, he said investigations were in full swing.

tunku : when it comes to mr pm , then action will be taken against the complainant...very strange. there are many other cases which has no ground or bases, why don't the ACA take action against the complainants? in this case without fear and favour only on the lips, in the heart, no action against pm. let see what the ACA will say......may be "we found no corrupt practice in the handout of the kain pelikat".
