In a new twist, Deputy Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak today admitted that he met Saiful Bukhari Azlan a few days before the latter lodged a police report against Anwar Ibrahim for alleged sodomy.
Najib however denied that he had advised Saiful to lodge the police report against Anwar, the PKR de facto leader and opposition chief.
The admission by the deputy premier today was a shocker as previously he had acknowledged Saiful meeting his special officer three months ago to seek government scholarship.
At the time, he did not disclose about this personal meeting with Saiful.
"There are two elements. He (Saiful) came to the office to seek help for scholarship and he only met with my special officer.
"He (also) came to my house because he needed help because he was so traumatised, so that was it.
"I am saying it because there has never been a conspiracy, you can't link the two things together. He just came for help, that's all and he never met me when he came to my office," said the deputy premier.
Najib's admission that he had met Saiful days before he lodged the police report is likely to bolster Anwar's claims of a conspiracy.
‘He was in fear'
Najib volunteered the information on his meeting with Saiful when asked by reporters to react to Anwar's unrelenting attacks against him.
"I don't know, maybe he (Anwar) thinks I am the one behind the guy (Saiful). Actually there is no conspiracy, he came and saw me to complain that he had been sodomised by Anwar," said Najib.
Najib added he accepted the meeting with Saiful in his capacity as a government leader and the young man as a Malaysian citizen.
With his ‘revelation', Najib was pressed by reporters for more details on their meeting, including whether he believed the claims made by Saiful on the alleged sodomy.
In this, Najib said: "I was sceptical, I was not sure whether there was any basis or whether it was genuine or whatever it was. I was worried, so I said ‘look, it's up to you (to decide on the next course of action)." But he also added that Saiful "looks genuine". "I don't dare to say. He looks genuine as he was in fear, his hands were seram sejuk (cold) but I dare not draw a conclusion, I advised him that 'you decide for yourself'," said Najib. On whether he asked Saiful to lodge a police report, he said: "No, I said, 'it's up to you', and I was not sure whether he was going to file the police report."
Saiful dropped the bombshell on Saturday when he lodged the police report claiming that Anwar had sodomised him.
PKR later claimed that the police report was a fix-up as there was a photo showing Saiful visiting the deputy premier's office and met with the latter's senior officer.
tunku : the boy met najib is totally another question. with 2 meetings they can't make a big plot.anyway najib admitted and point noted. so let the police investigates but then anwar is barking that he don't trust the police before they starts their investigation. i had a feeling that anwar did what he is accused for, otherwise he will act cool and let the police carry on their investigation.after all the world is watching (especially uncle sam)and he claimed that majority of the public did not believe with the accusation, why worry?

so, how come he earlier said saiful only came to his office and he posed for photo as for anyone else? selective memory?
if you were related to the pm, why would you go to dpm for advice? and how is it so easy for an unknown to meet dpm at his house? who arranged it? what, you can just pick up the phone and say i want to talk to meet dpm and he will get on the line? you try it, and see how many layers of security you have to deal with before yoy van speak to dpm's pa.
many suspicious events. if dpm is happy to let police investigate and justice take its course, dsai has also filed defamation court case. is that a sign of a guilty person?
there's more to this saiful
'confession' than meets the eye. but then you are so blatantly anti-dsai, you refuse to see it.
well, the truth is out there and will emerge for all to see.

donplaypuks,
don't puks ok.at least he let the public knows that saiful met him to complaint about anwar.
the reason saiful met dpm was because he knows najib assistant well and najib is the only politician he can get hold on.
his allegation can brings harm to him as the accused is anwar, so he surely be harm by anwar supporters.he needs protection.taht's why he went to see najib asking for help.
it is normal, if the accused is from the government the boy have had seen the opposition leaders.
that want also you don't know aahhh.
Actually who is this Saiful easily get access to our DPM. I hope i could meet our leaders like that.
Tun ku you are also inbalance in reporting about Anvar. From your writing it seems you hate Anvar so much. Probably you have bad experiences with Anvar previously. But anyway at least you show us what you really think and i really admire that. In case of Anvar Tun Ku for sure you would not give any room for him. Anyway this is your blog.
To me whether it about Anvar or DPM this is the most stupid thing happening that could divert our attention to the real issue. Rakyat is facing a difficult time but still there is no real solution coming. The next 6 months would be difficult with not enough money in Rakyat hand to spend just to live because the prices have increased 30% to 40% lately.
