Pasir Mas Umno calls off EGM

KOTA BARU: Pasir Mas Umno has decided to cancel its proposed extraordinary general meeting (EGM) initially scheduled for Saturday.
The decision was reached at a divisional committee meeting on Wednesday night where the majority of those present felt that they should respect Prime Minister and party president Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi's call for all divisions to stop holding EGMs.
Division deputy head Hanafi Mamat confirmed the cancellation, saying the members felt it was necessary to abide by Abdullah’s directive.
He said the earlier intention of the EGM was to discuss the party’s electoral performance and to gather feedback from the grassroots on scrapping the party’s quota nomination system.
