Abdullah Refutes Allegation Of Preventing Najib From Seeing Dr M

KUALA LUMPUR, May 8 (Bernama) -- Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi Thursday refuted an allegation that he had prevented Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak from meeting with former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
The prime minister said he had not done anything to that effect.
"There was no hindrance ... none," ("tak ada halngan, tak ada")he said when asked to comment on media reports quoting Dr Mahathir as saying that Abdullah had prevented Najib from meeting with him.
Dr Mahathir had reportedly said that it would be bad if the prime minister did not trust his deputy.
He said he did not talk about this previously because it was something personal but then decided to reveal it because of the increasing attempts to gag those who were not aligned to the party leadership.
Asked about Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Mustapa Mohamed's visit to Thailand to have discussions on rice, Abdullah said the government stockpiled the staple food in anticipation of higher prices in the future.
He also said that exporting nations might hold back supply in the future to meet the needs of their own people.
The prime minister said he wanted Mustapa to take immediate measures to build up a sufficient stockpile to ensure that there would no shortage of rice in the future.

tunku : as usual very short answer and he will try to avoid more questions on that matter.why don't you say that tun mahathir is lying ? you always said that no hindrance but anyone who are against you always complaint of hindrance, recently ku li complaint about it.is he lying too?

Very difficult.

Abdullah could have just said "apa pasai nak jumpa?" and went away.

Talking about the price increases out there. I feel that the government is not fully awake about this yet. No concrete solutions yet about these price increases.
I recall during the attacked of the ringgit during Tun administation back then. He implemented a very concrete policy. About the same approach being used by the American currently. It was effective. The Rakyat have not being damaged by it.
But with our food crisis today im worried too much happening on the ground that have hurting the peoples. The current rice crisis have not settle, yet the cooking oil crisis is about to restart again. Most of the grocery stores have started to limit the cooking oil quantity purchased and it is getting difficult to get the supply.
Please Mr. Prime Minister do something concrete, seriously. This time we really need a rocket scientist to resolve this crisis.
