Jerlun Umno Supports Pak Lah and Mukhriz ?

Jerlun Umno Fully Supports Abdullah's Leadership

JERLUN, May 23 (Bernama) -- Jerlun Umno division on Friday pledged full support to the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and hopes he will do something to restore the confidence of party members.
Jerlun Umno division chief Datuk Abdul Rahman Ariffin said the resolution was reached after a special committee meeting of the Jerlun Umno division here Friday night.
"The divisional Umno also asks Jerlun Member of Parliament Datuk Mukhriz Tun Dr Mahathir to concentrate on his duties in the constituency and stop the pressure on national leaders.
"We believe if he remains with his stance (urging Abdullah to step down), it will adversely affect his future in the party," he said after meeting the people at Wisma Umno Jerlun.
Besides, Rahman said the Jerlun Umno division also appealed to former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to withdraw his decision to quit the party.
"We have to revere present leaders because each leadership must be respected," he said.
Meanwhile, Mukhriz who was present at the function said he accepted openly all views of the Jerlun Umno division.
"Everybody has the right to give views but I disagree with the resolution and will stick to my stance.
"My intention is to save the party from facing more severe defeats in future elections," he said.
Meantime, Mukhriz said, he would make good all the promises to the Jerlun constituents and honour his responsibility as the people's representative to the best of his ability.
Asked to comment on calls for disciplinary action to be taken on him for urging Abdullah to step down, he said the party's constitution did not say that a member doing so could be penalised or sacked.

Jerlun Umno Youth Backs Mukhriz

JERLUN, May 23 (Bernama) -- Jerlun Umno Youth has come to the defence of MP for Jerlun Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir who has been taken to task for calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
Its chief Zulfekri Awang described the criticisms levelled by Negeri Sembilan Umno Youth chief Datuk Jamlus Aziz and Perak Umno Youth chief Zainol Fadzi Paharudin against Mukhriz as attempts to stifle the freedom of speech.
"Democracy in Umno will be paralysed if members are barred from speaking up and forced to support leaders whom they do not agree with.
"We know that Mukhriz is conveying a message from the grassroots and we have to give him the opportunity as Umno adopts a democratic system," he told Bernama here Friday.
Jamlus has called for action to be taken against Mukhriz by the Umno Disciplinary Board while Zainol Fadzi called for his (Mukhriz) resignation as an Umno Youth executive committee member and from the party for his uncalled for attitude against the leadership.

tunku : the old supports pak lah and the young supports mukhriz. well that is democracy.anyone can support anybody and there should not be restrictions to it. i guess rahman arifin forgets that if it was not for mukhriz, umno had lost in jerlun to pas.anyway we wish mukhriz all the best as we see hopes for umno in him.we hopes that he is sincere and will not let the grassroots members down.
