Raja Petra to be charged with sedition

KUALA LUMPUR: Raja Petra Kamaruddin, the webmaster of news portal Malaysia Today, is expected to be charged with sedition at the magistrates’ court in the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex in Jalan Duta on Tuesday.
He is expected to appear in court at 9.30am. Raja Petra was investigated under section 4 (1) of the Sedition Act 1948 for the article “Let’s send the Altantuya murderers to hell.”
The article was posted on his website on April 25 and implicated Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.
Another blogger, Syed Ali Akbar, was also summoned to court and is expected to be charged under the same Act.
He allegedly posted an article on Arabs and Islam on his blog.
Raja Petra’s wife, Marina Lee Abdullah, said the police officer who called them did not state what Raja Petra would be charged with.
“The police officer told us to just appear in court and we would be informed then,” she said.
Marina said once they know what the charges are, they would post bail.
To raise bail, they will involve the people. They will put up their bank account number on the website and encourage Netizens to bank in RM1 each.
On Friday, Raja Petra was summoned to the Federal Commercial Crimes Investigations Department (CCID) in Bukit Perdana at 4pm and was allowed to leave two hours later.
Eight police officers from the CCID visited his house in Sungai Buloh at 9am and seized a laptop and a CPU belonging to him before leaving at 11am.

tunku : good, let the court decides as if he is taken under ISA then his supporters will make all sort of accusations.i think raja petra is very rich to post his own bail, why asking donation? we better donate our money for the needy and poor people.

Sometime Tunku, people tend to be swell-headed when millions of hits achieved by his blog. This tendency is of course will make oneself off-guarded when treading on a sensitive issue. RPK may have gone too far to post articles, maybe ,without concrete proofs!

He got away with many articles which I found do not augur well in a plural society like ours. He is a muslim, but on many occassions gave prominence to articles on christianism and giving his own understanding of Islam!!

Sedition Act is actually to curtail people who may bring about racial calamities and public order situations. Those who prefer to play racial/religious/communal issues loathe this Act!! We must be rational living in this sort of society. I'm a friend to all races and religions!!!!

Nobody is above the law what more a person whose statements were so seditious and then playing god " lets send Altantuya murderer to hell" Let the court decides but hes too impatient and playing hero to Altantuya's family.
The case is still going on why harp on it? Talk on the current issues give ..suggestions not critics all the time . Too much of critising makes people Jelak. so much so its becoming Akademi Fantasia, confusing the public and the postings on his site becomes nothing but heaps of rubbish !
