Umno Grassroots Members Want Survey On Support For Leadership, Says Mukhriz

TEMERLOH, May 29 (Bernama) -- Umno grassroots want a survey on support for the party leadership to be carried out, said Umno Youth executive council member Datuk Mukhriz Tun Dr Mahathir.
He said the survey could be conducted by distributing special forms to the members to enable them to state their actual stand whether they supported the present leadership or otherwise.
"There are probably many Umno members who wish to express their feelings but unfortunately they have been deprived of their rights by leaders who are more interested in their own position," he told reporters after attending a gathering with Kuala Krau Umno Youth members, near here last night.
Mukhriz, who is also the Member of Parliament for Jerlun, said he had met with several Umno members who had expressed their disappointment because their rights had frequently been denied and they had thus decided not to be active in the party.
"The silent protest by the party members is even more dangerous than open expression of opinion," he said.
Mukhriz said the grassroots members had also suggested that they be allowed to vote in the party elections in future.

tunku : by right every member should be given the chance to vote for their choice of leaders, not only 7(G7) members voting on behalf of thousands.this will also curb money politics and the party concern buying votes will never be able to buy all the members.now they can buy out the G7.what has been working well in the past might not works right now, so we need some serious changes in Umno.
