KUALA LUMPUR: Low-cost carrier AirAsia owes Malaysia Airport Holdings Berhad (MAHB) more than RM100mil for its use of airports in the country, said Transport Minister Datuk Ong Tee Keat.
He said AirAsia owed MAHB RM110.36mil since 2002 until March 31.
The minister who was replying to matters raised during winding up the debate on the motion of thanks on the royal address, said AirAsia felt that the rates were "too high" and had appealed for the amount to be reduced.
“AirAsia did not agree with the outstanding balance and had asked for a lower rate, so the matter has been forwarded to the Finance Ministry," he told Wee Choo Keong (PKR – Wangsa Maju).
He said the debts included RM5.4mil that the low cost carrier owed when it was operating the Rural Air Services (RAS) in Sabah and Sarawak.
tunku : mr tony, when are you going to pay back your debts to MAHB ? after all you charge airport tax to your passenger and make them suffer by walking in the rain and shine.what i don't understand here is how airasia don't agree with their outstanding debt balance and had asked for a lower rate ? can any other company do that ? or only airasia can do that ?

Dear Tunku,
The ministry of Finance is looking into this. We have been appealing for a year.
Exactly as you have said our guests have to suffer and because of that we have had to have lower fares. For the record no PSC has been not paid .Thats fully paid .
You imply we are treated favourably. This reply will nto chnage you mind but it is very tough but I am proud of what my 5,000 staff have done . Malaysia is better for having airasia and since airasia came mas has had record profits.
