Gerakan To Go On Nationwide Tour

KUALA LUMPUR, May 3 (Bernama) -- Gerakan is embarking on a nationwide tour to gather information on the myriad of problems faced by Tamil schools and its students before arriving at a solution.
To kick-start the tour, the party's Anak Malaysia Education Foundation (Yayasan Pendidikan Anak Malaysia) was launched today.
Gerakan Youth central committee member Dr G. Krishnan said that among others, the tour would highlight the need to have more funding for Tamil schools and the need to change its present status to that of fully-aided schools.
"We are planning to finish the proposals by August and upon completion, we will send them (proposals) to the party's highest decision-making body for further consideration before sending it to the Education Ministry," he told reporters here.
He said the special task force on the Indian community formed early this year, had four sub-committees which would focus on education, religion and cultural affairs, employment and entrepreneurship, as well as social and family development.
For a start, Dr Krishnan's team will be heading to Kuala Sepetang in Taiping and Negeri Sembilan.

tunku : if it is for the indian community why don't join hands with MIC and other coalition party to go on nationwide tour? this is not the time to act alone .
