Cops 'visit' Raja Petra over Altantunya posting

Blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin was 'visited' by seven police officers following a recent internet posting pertaining to the Altantuya Shaariibuu murder case.
The police officers from the cybercrimes division - led by DSP Victor Sanjos - were at Raja Petra’s house in Sungai Buloh from 9am to 11 am. They confiscated the blogger’s laptop and CPU.
Raja Petra operates the popular Malaysia Today blog.
Contacted later, Sanjos said the police are investigating the blogger (left) under the Sedition Act 1948 for incitement and also because he "commented on a case before the court made its decision."
Sanjos also said Superintendent Gan Tack Guan, the investigating officer of the Altantuya murder case, had lodged a police report against Raja Petra.
"We asked Raja Petra whether he was the one who wrote the blog posting, whether he posted the blog, and whether he owned Malaysia Today on which the comments were posted.
"He answered ‘yes’ to all three questions," he said.
Raja Petra has been asked to come to the Bukit Aman federal police headquarters tomorrow at 11am to have his statement recorded.
'Send murderers to hell'
On April 25, Raja Petra wrote 'Let's send the Altantuya murderers to hell'. The posting implicated Deputy Prime Minister Najib Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor in the high-profile case.
Najib subsequently issued a denial through his press secretary Tengku Sariffuddin Tengku Ahmad. Whereas, Rosmah has also denied the allegations against her.
Contacted earlier, Raja Petra confirmed that the police had visited him. He said the police came to his house at 9am and were there for about two hours.
The 58-year-old blogger, who is no stranger to controversy, was grilled by the police for eight hours last year after former Selangor menteri besar Muhammad Muhd Taib filed a police report against him.
Taib, who is now regional and rural development minister, had claimed that Raja Petra published postings and articles that were disrespectful to the King and Islam.
The Altantunya murder trial is currently ongoing at the Shah Alam High Court.
A close aide to Najib, political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda and two police special operations force personnel have been charged with the murder of the Mongolian national.

Press sec: DPM has never met Altantuya

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will not hesitate to seek legal redress over unfounded and unfair allegations made against him in the case involving murdered Mongolian woman Altantuya Shaariibuu.
In a letter sent to Malaysia Today website, the Deputy Prime Minister’s press secretary Datuk Tengku Sariffuddin Tengku Ahmad said Najib did not know and has never met Altantuya, and that it was unfair that the allegations had been made against Najib in the case.
Tengku Sariffuddin was referring to an article titled “Let’s Send the Altantuya Murderers to Hell” published in Malaysia Today website on Friday, which was written by Raja Petra Kamarudin.
Tengku Sariffuddin said Najib shared the sentiment with the writer that the matter was not about politics and that this case should seek out the truth and justice should be served.
However, he said it was clear that there were those who were not interested in finding justice for Altantuya, but rather the politics connected to the case.
Tengku Sariffuddin said the article, which alleged that Najib and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor were implicated in Altantuya’s murder, contained “hearsay”.
He said it gave the impression that the police investigations into the case and the legal proceedings were flawed and were designed to hide the real perpetrators.
The case, he added, was a private matter involving Razak and several policemen implicated in the case.
Tengku Sariffuddin also said the allegations that Altantuya’s murder was linked to the country’s purchase of submarines were baseless and unfounded.
“Datuk Seri Najib has been very restrained and guarded in making any public statement on the matter since people known to him have been implicated and have been charged in court.
“It (making statement about the matter) could be misinterpreted or seen to be interfering in the case since the court proceedings is still on-going,” he added.
tunku : let us send the culprit to hell.if raja petra @ pete just accusing without any proof, send him to hell too with the actual murderer no matter who he is.

Tunku, on many occassions I have advised felloww visitors to websites not to accuse others without proof. In absence of any proof we must not prejudge DS Najib in that particular on-going case. Those who have accuse DS N , I commented , should bertaubat . And PKR seem to be quite certain of his numerous accusations on DS N. Before he change his blog format, I used to frequent his blog but now it is quite cumbersome to log in!!! So I chose to read only!!
