Najib: PAS-Umno talks won't be at expense of non-Muslims

LUSAKA (Zambia): Talks between PAS and Umno leaders on Malay or Muslim unity would not be at the expense of non-Muslims, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said.
“We should discuss matters and problems affecting the ummah (the Muslim community) and at the same we should also strengthen ties between communities.
“When we talk about Malay or Muslim unity, I must stress that it is not exclusive. It is not at the expense of non-Muslims,” he said when asked to comment on the proposal by PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat for Umno and PAS to dissolve and form a united Muslim party.
Najib, who is here to attend the Global Southern Africa International Dialogue 2008, added: “We must go step by step. Don’t run before we can walk.”
Nik Aziz is expected to table his proposal at the Pas muktamar (annual meeting) in Ipoh next month.

tunku : this is a good advice, don't run before we can walk but no harm in planning first. may be merging is a bit too fast but it's high time for both to work together on common goals.we should treat all as human, not according to race , religions etc and also abides by the constitution.

i really like that sentence.it sums up what's going on with the idea UMNO and PAS under one roof.but i dont really think they're gonna pact as one.i take it as more of "politic talk" than the real thing.for both to forgive and forget might take a very long period of time but not now absolutely.
