Scorpene: The People Demand the Whole Truth From SUARAM

The scorpene submarines issue seems to refuse to submerge even when the whole truth is out.  The one thing about ‘the truth’ is that whenever people ask ‘what is the truth?’, it automatically creates a ‘perception of lies’.

So how do we decide what is ‘the truth’ when it is folded under the ‘perception of lies’?

One thing we know about ‘the truth’ is that it doesn’t change.  It is intact and consistent no matter what words or language you use or how you describe it.

And this is what happen in what is called the ‘scorpene scandal’ where the statements from Malaysian police, the Malaysian court, the convicts, the Malaysian government, the Malaysian Prime Minister, the French Court, the French Police, the French Foreign Affairs Ministry, the officers of DCNS and now the Architect, as well as the Audit Report of Perimekar - have all fits perfectly with not a single word is out of the way.

The French police confirmed that Altantuya had never entered France during the transaction period.  All the money that changed hands were recorded and audited.  Every single party’s involvement are clarified and justified.   The French Court has also confirmed that there was never any case and that they have rejected SUARAM’s complaints right from the very beginning.

To add cement to the concrete truth, Anwar’s lawyer at the time Zulkifly Nordin who was also the lawyer of the convict in Altantuya’s murder case had come clean about how he was asked by Anwar Ibrahim to force the accused to plant Dato’ Seri Najib in the murder.   But his client refused to drag an innocent PM into the mess and so based on Zulkifly’s own investigation he found perfect alibis for Dato’ Seri Najib and denied Anwar’s order.

And that was where he reached the point and leave Anwar for good.

Still SUARAM indirectly claim that the Malaysian court and police have covered things up for the government.  Fine.  But what about the others?   The authorities and government of France? Why would they all help cover-up a bribery that ended up in murder?   Is SUARAM saying that they have been bribed too?

And why would a convict not save himself by indicting the PM instead?

The only logical answer is that the Prime Minister has nothing to do with the late Altantuya, which also means that he has nothing to do with any bribe.  The stories are consistent so this, is the truth.

In SUARAM’s latest effort to rebut the truth, it demands Jasbir Singh Chahl, who had come in the open to repeat the same truth in NST last Sunday, to again, tell the truth!

But as far as Malaysians are concerned, the truth is vivid.  In fact, the truth is almost disturbingly a little too clear that even the enemy can now see the detail specifications of the submarines - thanks to SUARAM.

Since SUARAM insists that Jasbir and everybody else didn’t tell the truth, then where else can we seek truth but from from SUARAM itself.

Therefore, we hereby demand SUARAM to tell the whole truth as according to its own statements so far.  For that, we need SUARAM to answer a few questions:

1.      Why does SUARAM play down on Jasbir’s significance in the ‘case’ now, when an article in Suara Keadilan in 2012, stated that Jasbir, Bala and Dr. Setev are among credible witnesses listed by SUARAM for the scorpene scandal?

2.      Why did SUARAM announce Jasbir’s name as one of the first to have received the subpoena?  As far as Malaysians can remember Jasbir denied receiving any subpoena almost as soon as the news about it was out.

3.      Why does SUARAM insist that the French court is investigating the case when the court actually dismissed the complaint?  If the case is ongoing and subpoenas to be served soon (since a year ago), why haven’t they been served?

4.      What is the exact amount of the bribe and into whose bank account did it go and from which bank account did it come from?  This is because SUARAM keeps quoting different figures and different company every time.  (Terasasi, Thales, DCNS, Perimekar, etc.)

5.      Why Altantuya only met Razak Baginda after the transaction was done if she was the Interpreter and involved somehow in the deals that made her think that she was entitled for the commission?

6.      Why was Altantuya never set foot in France during the time of the transactions if she was involved in it?

7.      Why does SUARAM claim Altantuya to be the Interpreter when the whole transactions were done in English and need no Interpreter?

8.      Why in the latest statement, SUARAM suddenly ‘reluctant’ to admit to have referred to Altantuya as the Interpreter?  Here’s an extract from a Malaysian Insider’s article some months ago:

“Chua singled out Document 136, which was translated from French, which details the interview between the French police and DCNS’ financial controller, Gerard-Philippe Menayas.

The document, distributed to the media today, was of Menayas’ explanation to the police of how the firm had to use other associate companies to make payments to Abdul Razak’s Terasasi.

Even more notable from the document, said Chua, was Menayas’ clear mention of Altantuya as Abdul Razak’s “interpreter”.

9.       If Altantuya was not an Interpreter as SUARAM suddenly agrees now, and that she was not involved in the transaction, how does the story of the murder and the bribe connect?  Or is it not connected anymore?  Which is the truth?

By denying the truth told by others, SUARAM is indirectly saying that they know the whole truth all along.  It would be funny for the person who knows the truth but keep harping on others to tell the truth, right?

So, SUARAM needs to tell its story by answering the questions above.  There is no need to ask Jasbir to do so as SUARAM clearly knows more than Jasbir or most probably knows better than the late Altantuya (R.I.P).

Police release photograph of Najadi’s killer

City police have identified the main suspect behind the brutal murder of banker Hussain Ahmad Najadi.
Kuala Lumpur CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Ku Chin Wah said the man, known as Sei Ngan Chai, was still believed to be in the city.

Ku also said the police had released a CCTV photo of suspect.
Police also arrested a 44 year old taxi driver, who drove the getaway vehicle for the shooter.
Photos of Sei Ngan Chai
It was reported yesterday that the police managed to get a photograph of the suspect from a CCTV footage from a camera near the Lorong Ceylon Kuan Yin Temple.

On Monday afternoon, Najadi was walking to his car with his wife along Jalan Ceylon in the heart of the city after negotiating a land deal at the temple.

A man came up behind him and opened fire, hitting him in the chest and lower abdomen. The man fled in a waiting taxi.

Najadi died on the spot while his 49-year-old Malaysian wife Cheong Mei Kuen was wounded in the arm.

Najib Vows to Tackle Recent Spate of “Brazen” Gun Crime

The recent, well-planned murder of a respected Bahrain-born businessman in Kuala Lumpur has generated the sort of international headlines we could well do without. It has been reported around the world that 75-year-old Hussain Ahmad Najadi, who founded the Arab Malaysian Development Bank in the 1970s, was shot in the chest and stomach and died on the spot. His wife was shot in the arm by the three attackers who are believed to have fled in a taxi.

Appalled by the shooting and the recent spate of gun crime, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has vowed to get tough. "I am deeply concerned by recent developments where murders involving firearms can occur in a brazen manner," he said.

"We are ready to give the police anything it needs in its fight against serious crime."

Najib added that the Government will look at the gun crime issue ahead of the next sitting of Parliament while police investigating the Najadi shooting are speculating it could have been a contract killing connected to a recent business deal.

The way Najib has responded to this issue is the right way. As frightening and emotive as gun crime is, Governments have a responsibility to work with police and allow their most experienced investigators do their job.

The wrong way are the sort of top down interference and quotas favoured by Pakatan Rakyat, which, should it have been elected, would have ordered police away from their normal duties so that they could say there were more cops walking the streets. But as police pointed out at the time, such a strategy would have denied them key resources.

What of the office staff who take calls from the public? Or those who coordinate scientific evidence and manage the resources so vital for fighting crime? The Government, meantime, is set to make good on its manifesto promise to hire 4,000 extra police and to support these officers, and will enlist an army of 50,000 PDRM volunteers to ease the workload.

Najib has attacked the "brazen" nature of some of the recent shootings. But with his response he has also sent a message that the Government and police will not tolerate this recent wave of armed violence.

JASBIR REVEALS THE TRUTH, NOW BALL AT SUARAM AND ANWAR

Jasbir Singh Chahl  had spoken and left no stones unturned. As architect for the purchase of Scorpene submarines, he related the whole event, the truth to clear every suspicious and misconception.

“I am willing to swear on my holy book, the Guru Granth Sahib, that I did not know this person, that she was never part of the team, had never met her, that she was never in France during the entire time we were there trying to close the deal and only knew about her when I read the papers in 2006 that they had found her body,” he told NST in an exclusive interview.

One of the myths that has been “accepted” as gospel was that Altantuya had acted as a translator for Abdul Razak Baginda, who had helped Chahl broker the deal.
Negotiations began in 2000 and were concluded in 2002. If Altantuya was indeed Razak Baginda’s interpreter, she should have been present at all the meetings from 2000.

And yet, in official French documents that were made available to the NST, the French police have stated categorically that Altantuya never entered France from 1999 to 2006, the year she died.
With official statements and documents, Anwar Ibrahim and Suaram should now come out in the open and deny those – complete with documents and first had statements.

All this while Suaram and Anwar have been misleading Malaysians into believing that Prime Minister and wife were involved in the murder of Mongolian citizen Altantuya Shariibu.
Now the truth has come out and the onus is on Suaram and Anwar to admit the truth or rebut it with documents and statements.

There should be no more delay in rebutting or admitting because it has been nearly five years Suaram and Anwar had been on the subject, pounding in the minds of Malaysians of the purported or alleged cruelty.

Suaram and Anwar even brought to Malaysia the late Altantuya’s father, putting unnecessary pressure on the government and Prime Minister.

Yes, it is true that Suaram is Anwar’s tool to bring down Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak as Prime Minister and that Altantuya was their best bet to achieve their goal.
But God is Mightiest and God showed the truth – although late but that is God’s way – and with the truth, we want to know what Suaram and Anwar will do?

Now Suaram and Anwar should admit their wrong and apologise publicly or rebut Jasbir Singh with proof.

Lets see from now what more evil plans Suaram and Anwar have with the truth now in the open.

Scorpene: Jasbir Singh’s exposes The Truth.

A few days ago the New Straits Times newspaper made a special story on the issue of Scorpene. The story was made public to answer all the accusation regarding the purchase of the Scorpene Submarine and also the murder of Altantuya. The truth has been overwhelmed by accusation and slander especially by the Malaysia’s human rights act movement SUARAM.

.
SUARAM and the opposition are still trying to look for the government fault in the Scorpene issue. Recently, SUARAM organized an Iftar programme themed by their slander on Scorpene. This is preposterous and sickening, as they invite the Muslims to break their fast in a sinful manner (listening to slander).

Thus, NST’s effort to address the issue by giving a complete and detail explanations regarding this issue is seen as an effective way to stop SUARAM from taking advantage of the gullible Malaysians.

For that particular reason, NST has interviewed Jasbir Sing Chahl, one of the key members who directly involve in the purchase of the said submarine. Jasbir Singh Chahl name have been used by SUARAM. They use his name in their publication by saying that Jasbir Singh Chahl is subpoena by the French courts. Jasbir denied all claims and said that he had never received any subpoena.

Now once more, Jasbir came out to explain everything that has been said by the government various times. Among the facts that was disclosed by Jasbir, is:

1.          Altantuya is not an interpreter, and his fluency in French is debatable and can’t be proven.

2.          Those who were involved in the Scorpene dealings (including Jasbir) has never meet with Altantuya during the on-going business deal in the year 2000-2002).

3.          Altantuya never came to France, as what have been verified by the French police.

4.          Abdul Razak Baginda that was said to have been close to the Prime Minister and Altantuya, only meets the girl in the year 2004.

5.          Altantuya was murdered in 2006.

6.          The DCNS Company that supplies Scorpene to the country handles all of their business using the English language and they do not need any interpreter, let alone a Mongolian one.

7.      The Perimekar Company that is rumoured to have been linked with Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor is actually owned by KS Ombak Laut Sdn Bhd, LTAT and also Boustead.

8.     The Perimekar Company received payment for their logistic services, training and administration; this includes accommodation for 145 staff and 49 officers in France and Spain.

9.    The Perimekar Company has never receive any commission from Dato’ Seri Najib and this was proven in the audit where the after tax profit of the company is RM 105, 111,191.00 .

All the facts and numbers that is made public is to show that the government is truly transparent in dealing with the country’s money. Everything done is recorded and audited. However, this is not the same with SUARAM and the opposition reports, where the numbers their put, has not source or documentation what so ever. We do not have to be a genius to know who is telling the truth and who the liar is.

What interesting is that, Jasbir was said to have raised his voice during the interview because he was angry at the baseless accusation of the opposition. It is clear that as an experience professional and worked with business giants since in his 20’s, Jasbir felt unease for his name to be dragged into politics. Previously he worked in a defence and construction company in London and were involved with billions of dollars business deals. From there he established a good relationship with the contractor in Europe. He came back to Malaysia in 1981 before joining Thomson-CSF Internationals, a subsidiary company of Thales that brought him to the business of purchasing Scorpene for the government of Malaysia.

With Jasbir explanations, Malaysian must put an end to this “scandal”. Let SUARAM and the opposition carry on to spin this issue, it will not bring them anywhere except to flush out all of their financial funds.

DPM calls for stern action against parties responsible for latest video allegedly insulting Islam

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has called for stern action to be taken against the culprits behind the video allegedly tarnishing the image and sanctity of Islam.

"The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission and the Home Ministry must act fast to prevent a recurrence," he said in reference to the video.

Muhyiddin said the action by certain quarters should not happen in a country that is enjoying the peace.

"This shows that there is no deep understanding within society. Muslims do not insult the religion of non-Muslims such as Christianity and Hinduism.

"But non-Muslims are insulting our religion," he said at the breaking of fast with orphans of Rumah Amal Kasih Bestari here Tuesday.

An video uploaded to YouTube entitled 'Suatu Hari di Hari Raya' depicted a man performing ablution and doing the same to three dogs with the 'Takbir Raya' and the Selamat Hari Raya song by Datuk M. Nasir as background music.

Suaram Still = PKR

As reported by The Choice last year, Suaram, nominally an independent NGO, is actually apparently composed entirely of Pakatan Rakyat politicians and media figures. (Suaram refuses to release its membership list, but the majority of its known members are PKR figures, and the remainder are DAP and Malaysiakini figures.) It has been repeatedly caught out acting as a thinly-veiled outlet for Pakatan propaganda – propaganda it has had to retract quite frequently.

Suaram is now faced with a retraction of one of its most ridiculous claims – and how it has acted has demonstrated more than ever that it acts as a mere front for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's party.

The recent revelations in the New Straits Times on the Scorpene submarine deal have put Suaram to the test. The man behind the Scorpene submarine deal has authoritatively and finally demolished the bizarre rumours that slain Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu was somehow involved in the purchase of the Scorpene submarines. Those rumours were repeated by PKR and its allies such as Suaram and used as a shameless attack on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak as GE13 approached.

This followed on revelations from the government of France that Altantuya had not been in France at all from 1999 through 2006, which included the time up to her death.

A photo of Altantuya in France has been subsequently shown as a forgery, much as other photos of Altantuya allegedly related to this case have been shown to be forgeries time and again.

Faced with this demolition of most of Suaram's allegations, PKR vice president (and Suaram member) Tian Chua responded: "We urge Jasbir to reveal the real role of Altantuya if, as he said, she was not involved in the Scorpene negotiations."

That is indeed what he said. After it has been finally proven that Altantuya had no part in the Scorpene deal, Tian Chua would like to know what part she had in the Scorpene deal.

Suaram has used the Scorpene deal – and the ridiculous claims of Altantuya's involvement – as a bludgeon for years, and each time, that weapon has turned on them. Last year, they attempted to host a fundraising dinner on the allegations, a dinner that caused them no end of heartache. They also claimed that the French government had begun a trial on the matter, a claim they were forced to retract when French lawyers and the French government made claim that there was no such trial.

Suaram was then caught out attempting to lobby the US government on its claims using a group closely tied to Israel's lobbying efforts, an effort they were forced to quickly disavow.

The Scorpene deal and the obscene allegations of Altantuya's involvement have, at the same time, been a staple of ceramah by Pakatan leaders, especially Anwar. Essentially, Suaram has acted as the nominally independent party seeking justice, providing a thin shield for PKR's subsequent allegations, all the while being PKR in all but name.

Tian Chua's absurd demand merely cements for all time Suaram's complete lack of independence from PKR, and shows finally that this entire matter has been contrived as a weapon to attack Najib and the Government.

Suaram may wish to protest its independence and claim that it truly acts in the best interest of the rakyat, rather than as a mere attack vehicle for PKR. We again invite Suaram to answer these questions as a sign of good faith, which we first posed over a year ago:

What is your complete membership list? How many Pakatan Rakyat politicians, leaders, and party members occupy your leadership? Why does your web site refuse to disclose this information? Have you informed the French court of your heavy Pakatan membership?

To what extent are you using malaysiakini.com as a dedicated outlet for your activities, and do you disclose your ties with the site to its readers in every article on this case?

How often do you report on your activities to PKR leadership – other than Tian Chua of course, who is not only one of your leaders, but Vice President of PKR?

As we did in September, we also call on Suaram and its backers to disclose their ties:

We call on Malaysiakini, whose leadership demands openness when it suits them, to immediately disclose all ties to and funding for Suaram and all other NGOs immediately.

We call on Suaram to identify all governmental funding, foreign and Malaysian, and the means by which it was obtained.

Opposition leaders and media will continue to try to use the Scorpene deal as a weapon against BN, but the rakyat are now aware of Suaram's true nature.

“The New Village” A Patriotic Movie?

Following the decision to withhold the film, The New Village, FINAS has been calling everyone not to blame them for releasing it for screening.  According to FINAS, it is not their job to approve the screening but only responsible to fix the date for the cinemas.
The authority to approve falls under the Film Censorship Board (FCB).  This means, the ball is now at FCB’s feet.  Still no words are heard from the FCB.  It was also reported that some Ministers are also saying that it is unfair to judge the movie based on its trailer.

Funny that we didn’t hear the same being said about the film Tanda Putera when the Chinese, most probably the communist sympathizers or their next of kin, went berserk over the film’s trailer.   Consequently, the movie has been hold for months and was almost banned.

The irony is that, Tanda Putera is a historical movie which was made based on thorough study.  Should the storyline ‘offend’ anybody then be it, because that is how we learn and move forward.  We don’t erase or change history just to make sure that some quarters are not offended by what their ancestors had done.   In fact, all Malaysians regardless of race must embrace this painful truth.  This is the only way that we can promote patriotism and nationalism to the new generations.

The New Village movie, on the other hand is a different story.  This film is made from the point of view of the communists, which is the enemy.  Which government or minister in the right mind would approve a movie that could stir the already fragile spirit of patriotism among the people?     What more at this point of time when racial tension is in the verge of suffocating us all.

We are fully aware that there have been endless and tireless efforts by the children and grandchildren of the communists to change history to be in favour of their fathers and grandfathers’ fights.  These new generations are in denial that their fathers and grandfathers are heartless killers, the enemy and traitors of the country but want so much to believe that the communists are freedom fighters.

No matter how hard they try to deny, the fact remains that the communists wanted to overtake the country from the colonials, as well as the rightful settlers.  And that makes the communists colonials too, not freedom fighters.

Somehow, these new generations have no knowledge of the truth or simply refuse to believe the official records.  Their minds have long been poisoned by hatred towards the Malay government.
They believe that history was recorded with racial prejudice where the communists are made to look bad just because the majority of them are Chinese.  Obviously, racist blood runs very-very deep that in the end they can only see ‘race’ in everything.

These new generations of the Chinese must learn to look at history with an open mind.   Communists are not heroes.  The communists fought the British not to free Malaya but to conquer Malaya.   While the British ruled with civilization, the communists ruled like savages and were as merciless as the Japanese.

The communists had a chance to rule Malaya for 14 days when the Japanese lost the WWII.  And that 14 days was a living hell that no one who had gone through it would ever forget.

In the 14 days, the communist (PKM), through MPAJA (Malayan People Anti Japanese Army) conquered the cities, police stations and government offices.   MPAJA introduced taxes on heads, assets and land.  MPAJA executed anybody who had worked with the Japanese during the Japanese occupation.  They captured and tortured the Malays whom they suspected to have served the Japanese.   They killed the Chinese who refused to work with them.  They robbed off the people of their belongings.

Among recorded events:
-          In Batu Pahat, a Village Head was killed for suspected of working with the Japanese.
-          A District Officer was killed in a negotiation with PKM
-          PKM buried a religious chief alive for afraid that he would lead a rebel
-          In Jelebu, mosques and suraus were violated.
-          PKM burned the houses in Kg Bakor and Sg. Manik
-          Police station in Bukit Kepong was burned down with the police and their families in it.

In other words, the inhumane communists made the British looked like saviours.
This part of history, this 14 days of hell, makes any attempt to honour communists as heroes, ridiculous.

Therefore, if some people are concerned over the feelings of the grandchildren of the communists when Tanda Putera was made, imagine the feelings of the grandchildren of those who were tortured and killed by the communists when The New Village got the approval to be screened.

Bear in mind that one film is based on history, which is essential for learning, while the other one is based on manipulated facts.  One would boost the people patriotism and one would only contribute to the already ‘hostile’ environment in the country.

Doesn’t this give all the obvious reasons for Tanda Putera to be screened for all to see, and The New Village to be banned?   Should there really need to be any more debates?

IGP: Police identifying masterminds behind firearms smuggling

The police are in the midst of identifying a "certain group of people" behind the smuggling of firearms into the country.
This follows the seizure of a large cache of firearms in the country over the past two weeks.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the police viewed the matter seriously, especially the recent spate of shooting cases.

"In this regard, intelligence is being stepped up while security has been tightened at smuggling haunts," he told reporters after a media conference on the 2013 Warriors' Day celebration here Monday.

"We are closing in on a certain group of people. We are doing that right now. We are also identifying people who are responsible in bringing in guns into the country," he said.
Khalid said the police did not rule out the possibility of the firearms coming from a neighbouring country.

In KOTA BARU, the police detained three men in connection with the seizure of two pistols and eight sharp weapons Monday night, in three raids here and Pasir Mas.
Kelantan police deputy chief Datuk Mazlan Lazim said in the first raid at 11pm, a 29-year-old suspect was picked up at a petrol station in Jalan Baung, Pengkalan Chepa here.

"Upon questioning, the police seized a samurai sword, two machetes and a foldable knife hidden in a bag behind the driver's seat of a car," he said at a media conference here Monday.
He said the suspect led the police to another man, aged 21, in Kampung Baung, Pengkalan Chepa where a pistol loaded with five bullets, machete and a knife were seized.

In a separate case in Pasir Mas, Mazlan said the police nabbed a 49-year-old man at foodstall and seized an imitation gun and an empty magazine.

In KUANTAN, three men linked to robbery and drug trafficking cases were nabbed at a restaurant last Saturday, in Pekan Sri Jaya near Maran.

In the incident, the police seized a .38 Smith & Wesson pistol loaded with four bullets, while another bullet was found in the front passenger seat of a car.
Pahang police chief Datuk Sharifuddin Ab Ghani said in the 12.05am raid, the police also found RM2,000 in the vehicle.

"One of the suspects tried to put up a struggle when approached by the police. However, they were overpowered and taken into custody," he told reporters here today.
Later, a suspect led the police to the seizure of three fake guns in a bedroom of a house in Kampung Sri Jaya, Maran.

Scorpene: Jasbir’s Statement Proofs SUARAM Is A Living Dead

And now, out of ego, perhaps, SUARAM is determine to continue lying even when they don’t know what they are lying about anymore.  Malaysians, in general, already know the truth and don’t pay much attention to SUARAM.  However, there are few who got carried away with the negative perceptions towards the government and continue ‘buying’ the lies, even ‘donate’ for the cause.   SUARAM made sure that they do so, by organizing dinners, talks and even ‘buka puasa’ events calling for the people to actually give money for them to continue lying.

We believe the donation will then be used to continue paying them to ‘manage the lies’, including paying the foreign lawyers, their travelling, lodging, entertainments and miscellaneous expenses.   Their job is to keep on telling the people that Altantuya was the interpreter in the submarine transactions and that she had an affair with either Razak Baginda or Dato’ Seri Najib Razak.

Apart from that, they have to keep telling tales about how the company, DCNS, Thales and Perimekar somehow ditch some money right into Dato’ Seri Najib’s pocket.  And from there, they need to go on saying that the French court has already opened a case file and that few people are going to be subpoenaed.

Never mind that the French court has made a statement that there was never a case in the first place as SUARAM’s complains were found to be baseless.  Never mind that the French police confirmed that the late Altantuya had never entered France at the time the business took place.  Never mind that the DCNS officers had laughed off the idea of having an interpreter since all transactions are done in English.  And never mind that Perimekar’s audit report has proven that there were no fishy transactions in between and no money ever gone out of place.

All SUARAM needs to do is to keep the lie alive so that it can continue organizing events and call for donation.  The donation is the only means to justify the money they spent and is going to continue spending.

To put an end to the lies, the very person who were directly involved in the transaction, Jasbir Singh Chahl agreed that his statement be taken and published.  The New Straits Times had his story last Sunday.

Jasbir confirmed that there was never a puzzle to be solved in the purchase of scorpenes.  There was never an issue and that SUARAM is breathing on lies.   SUARAM would be dead if it stopped lying.  And as for now, nobody buys their lies anymore, except themselves.

Man Behind Scorpene Deal Scuppers Suaram’s Campaign of Misinformation

The man behind the Scorpene submarine deal, Jasbir Singh Chahl, has finally told the story of the purchase and leaves Pakatan Rakyat and its sensationalist friends at Suaram with nowhere to hide.

He has told the New Straits Times that the 115 million euro sum which Suaram had portrayed as a corrupt payment was in fact the fully-accounted management fee paid to Perimekar Sdn Bhd. That sum was to cover logistics and training of the officers and men of the Royal Malaysian Navy's Submarine Force, who would be in charge of the technologically-advanced Scorpene fleet.

"The Scorpene was the best non-nuclear powered-submarine that we, as a nation, could have selected," he said of the lengthy selection process. But he added he was angry at having been sucked into the political point-scoring that has surrounded the issue.

"We've been made out to look like profiteers who just sat back and collected when, in fact, there was a lot of hard, tangible work, that was done," said Jasbir.

And he has further debunked the allegation that murdered Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu was part of the negotiation team active in the discussions in France.

"I am willing to swear on my holy book, Guru Granth Sahib, that I did not know this person, that she was never part of the team, had never met her, that she was never in France during the entire time we were there trying to close the deal," he said.

This is supported by official French documents that state Altantuya didn't enter France at any time between 1999 and 2006, the year she died. There was also no requirement for her translation skills as all meetings were conducted in English.

This should by rights be the end of the Scorpene issue and Suaram's disreputable attempts to score points from it on behalf of Pakatan Rakyat. And it isn't the first time the facts have contradicted Suaram's claims. Last year the NGO was caught out portraying inquiries into the Scorpene deal in France as a "trial". When this was shown to be totally false Suaram engaged in some unedifying backtracking.

"Suaram has no control on how (the) media are reporting this matter," said Suaram board member Cynthia Gabriel at the time.

Suaram does however have control over its membership, which as The Choice has reported is essentially so many Opposition politicians and Opposition-aligned media personalities. Gabriel herself, of course, has benefited from political appointment by the PKR government of Selangor.

Jasbir's account has been seized upon by Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek, who attacked Suaram's tactics.

"The other side is busy putting up a show, so they are now collecting funds to hire lawyers for the case in France. For me, they can continue to solicit funds to enrich the lawyers, and the people should be careful not to be cheated in this issue," he said.

Jasbir has finally broken his silence because he has had enough of being portrayed as at best, a "profiteer" and at worst corrupt. His account of the Scorpene deal is a warning of just how easy it is to politicise large procurement projects when the sums involved are large and there are long-running commercially-sensitive confidential negotiations involved.

It's also a warning about the lengths to which Suaram – and by extension Pakatan Rakyat – will go to sensationalise an issue.

SCORPENE ‘ARCHITECT’ TELLS ALL

Deep-six: In an exclusive tell-all with Haris Hussain, the architect of the
Scorpene submarine purchase, Jasbir Singh Chahl, speaks for the
first time about the controversial deal. Here, he torpedoes Suaram‘s
allegation of massive kickbacks and blows the Altantuya ‘connection’

Torpedoing the myth

IN 1984, an insurance agent from Baltimore, Maryland, published the fictitious story of a Russian submarine commander who tried to defect to the United States in his state-of-the-art Typhoon-class nuclear submarine. The Hunt for Red October drew inspiration from a real-life account of the 1975 mutiny aboard the Russian destroyer Storozhevoy and became Tom Clancy’s first international bestseller with its tale of intrigue, skullduggery and deception. Then US president Ronald Reagan called it “a great yarn”.

Closer to home, the Scorpene saga has taken many twists and turns. In 2010, Malaysian human rights non-governmental organization Suaram lodged a complaint in the French courts, claiming that French naval firm DCNS had paid RM452 million as a bribe to Malaysian officials to obtain the contract.

The allegations of massive kickbacks and payoffs in the RM4.2 billion deal for the two Perdana Menteri-class dieselpowered fast-attack boats have been topped only by the lurid accusations that Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu was murdered because she allegedly knew too much and wanted a ‘mere’ US$500,000 cut from the deal.

Over the years, a fascinating conspiracy theory had been woven around this episode and gained traction, linking the submarine deal with Altantuya’s murder. Hardly surprising since it had all the ingredients of a Hollywood techno-thriller — stories of alleged corruption, deceit, greed, sex and murder. In April, reports in the Spanish and French mainstream media questioned Suaram’s almost fanatical obsession with the case, with one even suggesting that the French legal system was being taken for a ride to serve a greater political end.

Last Friday, Suaram held a fundraising dinner in Petaling Jaya to raise money for its activities, in which fresh allegations were made into the case. After months of trying, the New Straits Times secured an exclusive interview with the central figure in the deal. It certainly wasn’t a cakewalk — this man guards his privacy jealously and with a passion.

As the architect of the Scorpene submarine deal, the last seven years have taken their toll on Jasbir Singh Chahl. Before this meeting, Chahl had steadfastly refused to make statements regarding this case, worried that he might be accused of perverting the course of justice. Throughout, he had been in constant communication with the French authorities and investigators and has voluminous evidence to back his claim, despite assertions by the opposition to the contrary.

As he places the teacup on the fine china saucer in his home in the heart of Kuala Lumpur with a finesse that betrays his English education and upbringing, Chahl pauses for a moment and draws a deep breath. “I am willing to swear on my holy book, the Guru Granth Sahib, that I did not know this person, that she was never part of the team, had never met her, that she was never in France during the entire time we were there trying to close the deal and only knew about her when I read the papers in 2006 that they had found her body.”

Incidentally, all these meetings were held in France with some in Malaysia. And they were all in English. “This is not what I am saying, you understand. This is what the French authorities, the French police and the French judicial inquiry are saying.” According to Razak’s Baginda’s evidence in court, he only met Altantuya in late 2004. The Scorpene deal was concluded in 2002. Another fissure in the opposition’s argument seems to hinge on its so-called ‘understanding’ of Gallic pride and centres around the way DCNS conducts its business around the globe.

It assumes that just because DCNS is French, the negotiations would have to be in French when the fact is that the French defence industry does deals all over the world in English. Add to that, the French team was initially led by an Englishman, Martin Hill, who was himself, also fluent in French.

So, if indeed the team needed an interpreter, it didn’t have to look very far, and certainly not in Mongolia, of all places. In his deposition to the French authorities in 2010, former DCNS marketing manager for Malaysia and Singapore at the time, Fredric Faura, told investigators that there was no need for an interpreter since negotiations were in English and Malaysians were fluent in the language.

“You ask me why the blogs have gone around calling this girl Razak’s interpreter. You should direct that question to the blogs.” Firing another shot across the bow, Chahl wonders why no one has stopped to question the credibility of the opposition that had readily admitted to doctoring a photograph to show Altantuya with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Razak Baginda, purportedly in a Paris restaurant.

“This whole affair was a personal matter between Razak Baginda and Altantuya. His dealings with her had nothing to do with the Scorpene deal. It’s unfortunate that it coincided with our timeline (the submarine deal). Razak Baginda was the only common denominator in this. He was the only link, and a tenuous one,
at best.”

Who is Jasbir Singh Chahl?

JASBIR Singh Chahl cut his teeth in the defence and oil and gas industry at a very early age. He was twentysomething, in London, and working with a Middle Eastern defence and construction company putting together multi-billion dollar deals. The relationships he forged with defence contractors in Europe and the rest of the world put him in good stead when he came home in 1981.

From 1996 to 1998, Chahl worked with Thomson-CSF International (M) Sdn Bhd, the wholly owned Malaysian subsidiary of France's Thomson-CSF (now Thales), on the Royal Malaysian Navy's Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPV) project, the Crotale man-portable SHORAD (shortrange air defence) system, and other projects of interest to Thomson-CSF and its subsidiaries. Chahl's relationship with Thomson-CSF was further enhanced by his development of strategies and provision of inputs that led to the submission to the Malaysian Government of other defence-related projects.

It was while working on these projects that he was told by Thales that it wished to focus on the sale of submarines to Malaysia. This was something Thales had been pushing for more than a decade but had not been unable to make much progress. Thales felt that the timing for a concerted effort was now right — their various discourses with the RMN had led them to this conclusion. They then requested him to analyse, evaluate and to develop a proposal to supply submarines to Malaysia, which culminated in the Scorpene purchase.

‘Everything was audited’

ONE of the major issues in the Scorpene submarine deal has to do with the word “commission”.
Specifically, the Euro115 million (RM452 million) that was paid to Perimekar Sdn Bhd, the company in charge of the logistics and the training of the officers and men of the Royal Malaysian Navy’s Submarine Force. And Jasbir Singh Chahl has a big problem with that.

“The amount is actually a service management fee,” says Chahl, exasperation and irritation creeping into his voice. That the detractors have managed to turn it into a simplistic argument
and package it as an example of unfettered greed; that it had succeeded, to a certain extent, in painting a picture that the monies were paid to grease the palms of government officials and
corporations, makes Chahl’s stomach turn.

For the record, Perimekar, which is an audited company, is owned by KS Ombak Laut Sdn Bhd, the pension fund of the Armed Forces, LTAT, and by the industrial company, Boustead. Both of them are also audited. The fees covered project management and project integration services, coordinating the involvement of Malaysian companies in the industrial participation programme in the provision of services during the construction phase and to monitor the performance of these firms, helping the main contractor comply with all local laws and procedures relating to the execution of the contract, coordinating and monitoring the training of RMN personnel in compliance with the main contract and in accordance with Malaysian Government and RMN expectations, and providing monthly reports on all of the above.

The biggest chunk of the fees went to the provision of accommodation and all the necessary services for the training of RMN personnel and their families in Brest, France, and Spain, for a period of six years, inclusive of health insurance premiums and per diem allowances of a minimum of Euro50 per person. Other costs include their return travel fares to Malaysia three times a year. In all, 145 RMN personnel, including 49 officers and dependents were covered by this. “We’ve been made out to look like profiteers who just sat back and collected when in actual fact, there was a lot of hard, tangible work, that was done,” Chahl says.

For the record, Perimekar’s profit after tax was RM105,111,191. “The commercial offer was attractive because of the superior industrial participation programme that we put together. The countertrade and offset programme that we proposed as part of the overall proposal
also swung the odds in our favour. “Based on the strength and commercial superiority of the proposal, we didn’t have to lobby anyone to influence the commercial evaluation process. There was no need to. “The Scorpene was the best nonnuclear powered-submarine that we, as a nation, could have selected.”

PM: Military camp to be built at Felda Sahabat, Lahad Datu

A military camp is to be built at Felda Sahabat in the east coast Lahad Datu district not far away from the site of the Sulu gunmen intrusion last February.

Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said this was among the various measures needed to boost Sabah's security that included improving intelligence-gathering networks as well providing sufficient security personnel and deploying the latest technology.

The security boost was among the three priority areas for Sabah, the Prime Minister said at the breaking of fast with state Barisan Nasional component party leaders and members here Saturday.
He said the other thrusts for the state was accelerating development programes especially in rural areas apart from safeguarding the people's welfare and interests.

''In terms of development we realise Sabah has to play a catch up game. We want to see the development gap between the state and peninsula being reduced," Najib added.
''We will give due attention to Sabah and provide the necessary financial allocations within our capacity,'' the Prime Minister said.

Voicing his gratitude to Sabahans for giving the Barisan Nasional 22 of the 25 Parliament seats, Najib said the people had displayed their political maturity.

''Sabahans have shown that it is not simply a matter of changing the government but changing the lives of the people and this is what Barisan has done and will continue to do,'' Najib said.

Umno to choose its leaders on Oct 5, says Najib

Umno will hold its party election for top office bearers on Oct 5.
Party president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the Oct 5 elections for supreme council positions would be held concurrently with party division elections.

Announcing the dates at a press conference on Friday after chairing the party's supreme council meeting at party headquarters, Najib said the party's Youth, Wanita and Puteri wings will hold their internal polls on Sept 28.

Those wishing to contest as candidates for all party positions - ranging from those at division to supreme council levels - must register at their respective state Umno offices on Sept 7, said Najib.
He also said the party's annual general assembly would be held from Dec 2 to Dec 7.

Commenting on the new rules for the party election, which will come into effect at the coming party polls, Najib said the aim was to choose party leaders whom the rakyat were at ease with.

"We hope that Umno will continue to be accepted by the rakyat and that means we must promote leaders whom the rakyat can accept," said Najib.

Not bad, says smirking Alvin The Devil Tan of jail stay

After spending a week at the Sungai Buloh prison, all sex blogger Alvin Tan managed to say about the experience was "not bad."

It can't have been the food he was referring to when reporters asked about his stay after he signed bail papers for his release at the Jalan Duta courts on Friday.

He did not get a chance to say much either. His lawyer, Chong Joo Tian, quickly ushered Alvin and girlfriend Vivian Lee into waiting cars, and they were driven off separately.

Chong said the two were "happy to be out."

"They need time to rest. We'll take it from here," he told reporters later.

Alvin, spotting a crew-cut hairstyle and in the clothes he wore when he was charged last Thursday, continued acting defiant.

He was smirking at reporters and bystanders upon his arrival at the court house in handcuffs and after he was released.

Vivian, however, walked a step behind Alvin looking somewhat lost. She covered her face with her hair; dressed in the pink t-shirt, black three-quarter pants and pink flipflops she wore when she was charged last week.

A bystander commented that it was surprising she could "show everything on the Internet but cannot show her face in court".

But the two looked "made for each other" when they signed their bail bonds, holding hands and chatting animatedly at the court's registration counter

Their RM30,000 bail was posted yesterday by Alvin's mother.

High Court Justice Mohd Azman Husin allowed bail of RM10,000 for each of the three charges against them over their Facebook posting of them eating a pork dish while wishing Muslims Selamat Berbuka Puasa and uploading pornographic images on their blog.

He also ordered them to surrender their passports and prohibited them from uploading pornographic and provocative images, and using seditious words in the Internet that could touch religious and racial sensitivities.

The two were also forbidden from using network communication devices, including smartphones and iPads, and were ordered to report to the nearest police station on the first day of each month.

RAMADAN IN HISTORY

Ramadan is the most superior of months in which Allah revealed His final revelation, the Quran. Also, in this month were revealed the scriptures of Ibrahim (as) and Musa (as), as well as the Zabuur and the Injeel.
On the 17th day of Ramadan, in 610 AD, the most significant event in history occurred - the revelation of the Quran to Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. was in the cave in Mount Hira when the Angel Jibrael came to him with the first five ayat of Surat Al-Alaq.

"Ramadan is the month in which was sent down the Quran as a guide to mankind also clear signs for guidance and judgement." [Al-Baqara, 2:185]
"We have indeed revealed it, (Al-Quran) in the night of power." [Al-Qadr, 97:1]
RAMADHAN IN HISTORY
By Abdullah Hakim Quick
New Picture 67
All praises to Allah, Lord of the worlds. He who revealed in His Glorious Qur’an:
"O you who believe, fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those who came before you that you may keep your duty to your Lord (having taqwa)," (Al-Baqara, 2:185).
And may blessings and peace of Allah be upon His last Messenger Muhammad ibn Abdullah, forever.
O you who believe, Ramadhan is a sacred month wherein Almighty Allah is constantly testing His creation and giving humanity the opportunity to achieve infinite, endless Bliss. Fasting is a complete purification and a means to developing the consciousness of Allah's presence. The consciousness of Allah (Taqwa) is a protection against the schemes of Shaitan, and the suffering of this world. Allah has informed us that
"Whoever keeps his duty to Allah (has taqwa), He ordains a way out for him and gives him sustenance from where he imagines not. And whoever trusts in Allah, He is sufficient for him. Surely Allah attains His purpose. Allah has appointed a measure for everything." (At-Talaaq, 65:2)
Many Muslims today have a misconception about fasting and the activities of a fasting person. They go into a state of semi-hibernation, spending most of their daylight hours in bed. If they fear Allah, they wake up for prayer, but then return to sleep immediately. This unnatural sleep makes them become lazy, dull-witted and often cranky.
Ramadhan is actually a time of increased activity wherein the believer, now lightened of the burdens of constant eating and drinking, should be more willing to strive and struggle for Allah. The Prophet s.a.w. passed through approximately nine Ramadhans after the Hijrah. They were filled with decisive events and left us a shining example of sacrifice and submission to Allah.
1 A.H. (After Hijra)
In the first year after the Hijrah, the Prophet s.a.w. sent Hamza ibn Abdul Muttalib with thirty Muslim riders to Saif al Bahr to investigate three hundred riders from Quraish who had camped suspiciously in that area. The Muslims were about to engage the disbelievers, but they were separated by Majdy ibn Umar al-Juhany. The Hypocrites of Madinah, hoping to oppose the unity of the Muslims, built their own masjid (called Masjid ad-Dirar). The Prophet s.a.w. ordered this masjid to be destroyed in Ramadhan.
3 A.H.
On the seventeenth of Ramadhan, 3 A.H., Almighty Allah separated truth from falsehood at the Great Battle of Badr. The Prophet s.a.w. and 313 of his companions set out to intercept a caravan of their own goods that had been left in Makkah. It was led by Abu Sufyan himself, and estimated at 50,000 dinars. They were met, instead, by a well-equipped army of the nobility of Quraish, intend on putting out the light of Islam. Despite being outnumbered three to one and appearing weak and unseasoned, the Muslims defended their faith with a burning desire to protect the Prophet and meet their Lord through martyrdom. Allah gave them a decisive victory on this day of Ramadhan, that would never be forgotten.
6 A.H.
In 6 A.H., Zaid ibn Haritha was sent to Wadi al-Qura at the head of a detachment to confront Fatimah bint Rabiah, the queen of that area. Fatimah had previously attacked a caravan led by Zaid and had succeeded in plundering its wealth. She was known to be the most protected woman in Arabia, as she hung fifty swords of her close relatives in her home. Fatimah was equally renowned for showing open hostility to Islam. She was killed in a battle against these Muslims in the month of Ramadhan.
8 A.H.
By Ramadhan of 8 A.H., the treaty of Hudaibiyya had been broken and the Muslim armies had engaged the Byzantines in the North. Muhammad s.a.w. felt the need to strike a fatal blow to disbelief in the Arabian Peninsula and conquer the city of Mecca. Allah has declared His Sanctuary a place of peace, security and religious sanctity. Now the time had come to purify the Ka`abah of nakedness and abomination. The Prophet s.a.w. set out with an army having more armed men than al-Madinah had ever seen before. People were swelling the army's ranks as it moved toward Makkah. The determination of the believers, guided by the Will of Allah, became so awesome that the city of Makkah was conquered without a battle, on 20 Ramadhan. This was one of the most important dates in Islamic history for after it, Islam was firmly entrenched in the Arabian Peninsula. During the same month and year, after smashing the idols of Makkah, detachments were sent to the other major centres of polytheism and al-Lat, Manat and Suwa, some of the greatest idols of Arabia, were destroyed.
Such was the month of Ramadhan in the time of the Prophet s.a.w. It was a time of purification, enjoining the good, forbidding the evil, and striving hard with one's life and wealth. After the death of the Prophet s.a.w., Muslims carried on this tradition and Allah used the true believers to affect the course of history. Ramadhan continued to be a time of great trials and crucial events.
92 A.H.
Painting of Tariq ibn Ziyad
Ninety-two years after the Hijrah, Islam had spread across North Africa, Iran, Afghanistan, Yemen and Syria. Spain was under the tyrannical rule of King Roderic of the Visigoths. Roderic had forced his six millions serfs and persecuted Jews to seek the aid of the Muslims of North Africa in order to be delivered. Musa ibn Husair, the Umayyad governor of North Africa, responded by sending his courageous general Tariq ibn Ziyad at the head of 12,000 Berber and Arab troops.
In Ramadhan of that year, they were confronted with a combined Visigoth army of 90,000 Christians led by Roderic himself, who was seated on a throne of ivory, silver, and precious gems and drawn by white mules. After burning his boats, Tariq preached to the Muslims warning them that victory and Paradise lay ahead of them and defeat and the sea lay to the rear. They burst forth with great enthusiasm and Allah manifested a clear victory over the forces of disbelief. Not only was Roderic killed and his forces completely annihilated, but also Tariq and Musa succeeded in liberating the whole of Spain, Sicily and parts of France.

Golden Age of Al-Andalus
This was the beginning of the Golden Age of Al-Andalus where Muslims ruled for over 700 years.
583 A.H.
New Picture (1)
In the year 582 A.H., Salahuddin Al-Ayyubi [Saladin], after battling with the Crusaders for years, finally drove them out of Syria and the whole of their occupied lands in the month of Ramadhan. The Muslim world was then destined to meet one of its most frightening challenges.
658 A.H.
In the seventh century A.H. the Mongols were sweeping across Asia destroying everything that lay in their path. Genghis Khan called himself "the scourge of God sent to punish humanity for their sins". In 617 A.H., Samarkand, Ray and Hamdan were put to the sword causing more than 700,000 people to be killed or made captive.
Painting of Battle of Ain Jalut
In 656 A.H., Hulagu, the grandson of Genghis Khan, continued this destruction. Even Baghdad, the leading city of the Muslim world, was sacked. Some estimates say that as many as 1,800,000 Muslims were killed in this awesome carnage. The Christians were asked to eat pork and drink wine openly while the surviving Muslims were forced to participate in drinking bouts. Wine was sprinkled in the masjids and no Azan (call to prayer) was allowed.
In the wake of such a horrible disaster and with the threat of the whole Muslim world and then Europe being subjected to the same fate, Allah raised up from the Mamluks of Egypt, Saifuddin Qutz, who united the Muslim army and met the Mongols at Ain Jalut on 25th of Ramadhan, 658 A.H. Although they were under great pressure, the Muslims with the help of Allah, cunning strategy and unflinching bravery crushed the Mongol army and reversed this tidal wave of horror. The whole of the civilized world sighed in relief and stood in awe at the remarkable achievement of these noble sons of Islam.
This was the spirit of Ramadhan that enabled our righteous forefathers to face seemingly impossible challenges. It was a time of intense activity, spending the day in the saddle and the night in prayer while calling upon Allah for His mercy and forgiveness.
Today, the Muslim world is faced with drought, military aggression, widespread corruption and tempting materialism. Surely we are in need or believers who can walk in the footsteps of our beloved Prophet s.a.w., the illustrious Sahabah, Tariq ibn Ziyad, Qutuz, Salahuddin and the countless heroes of Islam. Surely we are in need of believers who are unafraid of the threats of the disbelievers, yet kind and humble to the believing people; Muslims whose fast is complete and not just a source of hunger and thirst.
May Allah raise up a generation of Muslims who can carry Islam to all corners of the globe in a manner that befits our age, and may He give us the strength and the success to lay the proper foundations for them. May Allah make us of those who carry out our Islam during Ramadhan and after it, and may He not make us of those who say what they do not do. Surely Allah and His Angels invoke blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad. O you who believe, send blessings and peace to him forever.
