Anwar Demands Apology From Syed Hamid

KUALA LUMPUR, July 11 (Bernama) -- Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar was Friday served a letter of demand to retract his remarks that Parti Keadilan Rakyat de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was a 'snitch' (informer) for the United States.
According to the letter of demand, Syed Hamid has 48 hours to apologise to Anwar, beside an undertaking not to repeat the allegation.
If Anwar failed to receive a satisfactory reply, his counsel S. N. Nair said his instructions were to institute legal proceedings against the minister, demanding RM100 million in damages for causing injury to the PKR leader's reputation.
Speaking at a press conference at his office here, Nair said Syed Hamid's remarks and subsequent comments published in The Star newspaper had portrayed his client as a traitor, disloyal to the country, an American spy and an untrustworthy person.
Meanwhile, Anwar will give a statement to the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) on Monday over his police report against Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan and Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail.
Nair said the statement would be over Anwar's police report that Musa and Abdul Gani had fabricated evidence against him over his "black-eye" incident in 1998.
In a related development, Nair said Anwar had so far, failed to obtain a copy of the police report lodged by Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan who had alleged he was sodomised by the PKR de facto leader.
He said he had applied for a copy of the report from the Brickfields police headquarters on June 29, a day after the report was lodged.
Nair said initially, after several reminders, the police had agreed to provide the copy on July 3. However, the following day, an officer from the district police headquarters told him the police could not provide the copy since investigations were underway.
"We are just hearing what was alleged by Mohd Shaiful in the report via media but until today, we don't have any knowledge of what actually was stated in the police report," added the counsel.
In the police report lodged on June 28, Saiful had accused Anwar of sodomising him. So far, police have recorded statements from 18 people but no statement was taken from Anwar.

tunku : what reputation has anwar got?? he abused power when he was deputy pm, he sodomized azizan and co. now with the saiful's accusation, what reputation he has?? syed hamid will never apologize as he did not mention that anwar is a spy, he said anwar reports to Us.this moron is getting crazier day by day.

Syed Hamid probably does have some serious apologizing to do..but not to Anwar. What reputation? there's only one thing on everyone's mind the moment Big Bro US spoke up against Malaysia's government.
