Adnan won’t contest veep post

KUANTAN: Pahang Umno chief Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob has decided not to contest the vice-president’s post in the party elections later this year.
Adnan said he arrived at this decision after considering that those who had offered themselves to contest so far were all capable leaders.
“I will offer myself only if those standing are not capable to shoulder the responsibilities,” Adnan said after presenting financial aid to 41 Town Planning and Regional Faculty undergraduates from Universiti Teknologi Mara here yesterday.
The undergraduates, who are in their final semester, have completed their studies of the Kuala Lipis township.
On a separate matter, Adnan said it was nothing unusual for Umno and PAS to sit down and discuss pressing matters like Malay unity with other political parties.
He added that it was also not impossible for PAS to rejoin Barisan Nasional, as had happened before in 1974.
On former Kuantan Umno chief and former deputy minister Datuk Fauzi Abdul Rahman who had joined PKR, Adnan said: “Any member in Umno can quit the party and join or rejoin other parties.

tunku : good for you adnan and for your political carrier.just concentrate on pahang.let more capable candidates go for the post.you made a good decision.thank you adnan for being reasonable.i hope many others will follow your footstep.right now there are about 16 had shown interest in contesting for the post.

yeah, I agree with you tunku. He had made a wise decision. He also knew his capabilities and being reasonable to the situations if he were to take the position and the responsibilities applied.

A good example of politician to be proud of from the party.
