Tun Razak Legacy Seminar Will Identify Weaknesses

KUALA LUMPUR, June 12 (Bernama) -- The weaknesses and failures of the legacy left by former prime minister Tun Abdul Razak Hussein would be identified so that the young could make them a reality, said Umno Youth vice leader Khairy Jamaluddin.
The Seminar on the Tun Abdul Razak Legacy in National Development would find effective ways to achieve the targets of the New Economic Policy (NEP) introduced in the 70s whose targets have yet to be fully achieved.
"The late Tun Razak was a visionary who could see what we could not achieve and we hope the young generation can turn his vision into reality," Khairy said in RTM's morning show Selamat Pagi Malaysia at Angkasapuri here today.
For example, the young generation knows that it was Tun Razak who made Malaysia the first South-east Asian country to recognise China which has now become a giant in Asia.
Khairy who is also chairman of main organiser Akademi Pemuda said the seminar was a start for the appreciation of the objectives of the Tun Razak legacy without dispensing with the historical aspect.
"All this while we only look at history from the academic angle. History is not only a subject in school but must be used as a guide for us to move forward," he added.
The seminar on June 15-16 will be held at the Sime Darby Convention Centre.

tunku : i guess khairy should make a seminar on the failures of pak lah so that the next pm can avoid the failures.
