Slow Implementation Of 9MP Projects Worries Tajol

what are you trying to hold kayjay?

IPOH, June 11 (Bernama) -- Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Tajol Rosli Ghazali is worried over the slow implementation of the Ninth Malaysia Plan (9MP) projects by the state government.
He said 172 projects or 56.6 percent of 304 9MP projects in Perak were still at the pre-implementation stage although the first quarter of 2007 had passed.
"Delays will only lead to higher cost due to inflation and increase in the price of materials and labour. It will also affect the overall performance and implementation of 9MP projects in Perak," he said at the state's monthly gathering of civil servants here Monday.
Project delays would also mean that the target groups would not reap the benefit from the projects and would result in `opportunity cost.'
Tajol Rosli said until March 31, some 118 state projects costing RM176.1 million had taken off with 26 having been completed, 89 on schedule, three ahead of schedule while 14 others have yet to start.
On the salary increase for civil servants, he said Perak would need an additional RM38.5 million for administative expenditure for the second half of the year rising to RM77 million next year.
"This means that the Perak government needs to find additional income to avoid a larger deficit in the state budget," he added.
For the 2007 budget, Perak estimated a revenue of RM648.21 million of which RM433.08 million was for administrative expenditure and RM249.91 million for development or a RM34.78 million deficit.
Tajol Rosli also said the state government would not increase quit rent to offset the higher expenditure incurred and called on civil servants to increase productivity and efficiency.
