Lodge Police Report If You Have Evidence Of Money Politics - PM

KUALA LUMPUR, June 20 (Bernama) -- Anyone having evidence of money politics during the recent Machap and Ijok by-elections should report the matter to the police.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said they could also file election petitions at the High Court within the time frame provided by the law to have them annulled.
"The Election Commission (EC) has no powers to act over such allegations (money politics). It is up to those with evidence to make police reports or resort to the court," he said in his written reply to Fong Po Kuan (DAP-Batu Gajah) who had asked the Prime Minister if the EC had taken action against anyone for money politics in the two by-elections, in the Dewan Rakyat today.
As to Fong's question on how much the contestants spent in the two by-elections, Abdullah said that in Machap (in Melaka) the candidate from the Barisan Nasional (BN) totalled RM89,955 in expenses while the DAP's candidate RM15,876.
In the Ijok by-election (in Selangor), the BN candidate spent RM100,000 while his opponent from the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) RM86,300.

tunku : i guess pak lah is right. you have evidence please report to the authority concern. only that way we will curb this disgusting act. as for the candidates spends on by election, the question should ask how much the party spends not candidates, also how much did the government spend on the by election????
