The unity and cooperation within the MCA and Barisan Nasional
component parties will see the ruling coalition returned with a stronger
mandate, MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek said Wednesday.
In
a statement Wednesday on the dissolution of Parliament, he said many
people continued to have hope and confidence in the MCA, adding that the
party's track record in the last three years had further strengthened
the people's faith and trust in the party.
Dr Chua said MCA, as
the second largest Barisan component party, had not succumbed to the
incessant attacks and curse by the Opposition after the last elections.
"In fact, MCA has emerged even stronger," he said.
Citing
examples, he said more than 80,000 people had joined MCA in the last
three years while less than 900 quit within the same period.
The 64-year-old party's membership is over one million.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has called for the 13th general election, after the King consented to the dissolution of Parliament on Wednesday.
