Bagan Serai Residents Return To Support BN - Najib

Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said Bagan Serai residents have returned to support Barisan Nasional (BN) because the government always put the people first.

"This is proven by the overwhelming public response to the 1Malaysia People Assembly today. The Menteri Besar (Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir) said Bagan Serai residents were not friendly but it is different now because in four years we prove that we are a government who put the people first," he said in front of about 5,000 people here.

The BN government had fulfilled its promise to Bagan Serai residents by implementating the RM564 million flood mitigation project.

The Prime Minister said work on the project to alleviate flooding has started with RM100 million already spent.

"This promise has been fulfilled. We also promised to build a hospital as Bagan Serai residents complained of not enough beds. We can include this in the Aku Janji and add another 200 beds for Bagan Serai residents."

In the 2008 general election, Mohsin Fadzli Samsuri from PKR beat Datuk Zainal Abidin Zin from BN to win Bagan Serai seat with a majority of 3,413 votes.

Mohsin Fadzli quit as PKR member in March 2010 and declared himself as an independent MP.

BN's Noor Azmi Ghazali is involved in a three-cornered fight with Perak PKR chairman Datuk Dr Mohd Nor Manuty and independent Abdul Latif Masud in the May 5 general election.
