Penang-based trade organisations and non-governmental organisations will present a memorandum to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Abdul Razak to support Barisan Nasional's proposal to restore Penang's free port status and implement a monorail system in the state.
Penang Chinese Town Hall (PCTH) chairman Datuk Lam Wu Chong said the memorandum will carry some 1,000 signatures from representatives of companies, trade organisations and NGOs.
“A free port status will generate 1,000 jobs in Penang,” Lam said.
The
signatures will be presented to Najib on April 30 at a dinner organised
jointly by PCTH and associations which represents all races in Penang
at Han Chiang High School.
