GE13: MCA helped Chinese schools even in opposition areas, says Dr Chua

Six Chinese primary schools in Gopeng received RM3mil for development in the last three years, MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek said.
He said the party continued to bring development to the constituency despite losing the Gopeng parliamentary seat and its two state seats, Teja and Simpang Pulai, to PKR in the last elections.
The voters should support candidates who are able to serve them, help to resolve local problems and bring development, Dr Chua said during a dinner with Gopeng folks in Lawan Kuda here on Thursday.
He earlier went on a campaign trail in Gunung Rapat.
Barisan Nasional has fielded Datuk Tan Chin Meng for the Gopeng seat and Datin Yew Sau Kham and Datuk Chang Kon You for the Teja and Simpang Pulai seats respectively.
Dr Chua said a strong mandate for Barisan was important for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to continue with the country's Economic Transformation Programmes (ETP).
The ETP has already shown good results and enabled the Government to implement various programmes for the benefit of the people, he added.
Dr Chua cited the IMalaysia People's Aid (BR1M) as an example.
The RM500 BRIM 1.0 was given out last year and another RM500 BRIM 2.0 this year. Barisan has pledged to give BR1M annually to those with monthly household income below RM3,000. The amount would be gradually increased to RM1,200.
