Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam has chided medical staff for getting involved in politics.
He
said several patients at a hospital in the state had urged the Health
Ministry to look into a case of a doctor for spending much time
campaigning for the Opposition instead of patients.
He was
commenting on a doctor, who is a medical unit head at a rural government
hospital in Alor Gajah, who is alleged to openly campaign for the
Opposition.
Speaking at the opening of the new hospital here,
Mohd Ali, who is now contesting the Bukit Katil parliamentary seat, said
a number of patients have been denied treatment due to the action of
the doctor.
"It is against medical ethics to mix work with politics," he said.
"He shouldn't be campaigning even for Barisan Nasional as his
profession discourages direct involvement in politics," Mohd Ali added.
He revealed that the doctor's subordinates had also raise concerns about his political involvement during working hours.
"I hope the Health Ministry can look into the matter before it gets out of hand," he said.
