Teratai independent candidate and sacked former DAP Socialist Youth
chief for Selangor Jenice Lee questioned the legality of her sacking,
saying that the DAP no longer has the legal power to do so.
She
said that because the Registrar of Societies does not recognise the
party's central executive committee (CEC) due to alleged irregularities
during the party election in December last year, the disciplinary
committee's position would also be in question.
The disciplinary committee is one of the few committees appointed by the CEC.
“If the CEC is not valid, then the disciplinary committee would also not be valid,” she told The Star.
She
was sacked from the party after she filed nomination papers to defend
her state seat in Selangor last Saturday facing off with another DAP
candidate in a five-way fight.
Lee also laughed off a letter dated Apr 18 from the disciplinary committee chairman Tan Kok Wai suspending her for six months over several reasons.
“If you look at the letter, there is no letterhead and no signature.
“Tan
had already said that there would be no action until after election so
how can he suddenly issue me with this letter,” she said.
Lee
added that she had not personally received the letter and claimed that
Tan only distributed it to reporters on Tuesday morning.
“How can he simply backdate the letter?” she asked
