Barisan Nasional will field up to 33% new faces for parliamentary
seats and 49% for state seats in the 13th general election set for May
5.
Its chairman Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said Monday the line-up was the best Barisan could offer to deliver the pledges made in its manifesto.
"The
process of selecting Barisan candidates was long, with a lot of
negotiations made with coalition party presidents and state leaders.
"We
took a long time to make the consideration because we need to balance
between the old and new to make sure that while there is renewal, there
will also be experienced representatives in the government later," he
said.
"I'm more worried at the disappointment of the people than the disappointment of those not selected," he added.
Najib had earlier presented instruments of appointment to Barisan component party presidents and state coalition leaders.
The complete Barisan line-up will be known by Tuesday
