More Than 800,000 Single Mothers Will Receive 1malaysia Discount Card

More than 800,000 single mothers nationwide will receive the 1Malaysia discount card which offers discounts of between five and 50 per cent on various selected goods and services, said Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

The prime minister said the government would also consider insurance scheme for registered single mothers with a premium of RM12 a person, with an allocation of RM12 million annually.

The insurance scheme offered would provide an indemnity of RM5,000 upon death, RM5,000 for funeral expenses, RM10,000 upon accidental death and RM10,000 for accidental disability, he said at the launch of the Wanita BN-Malaysian Single Mothers Network (Juwita) here Thursday.

About 13,000 single mothers from various races nationwide attended the ceremony organised by Wanita BN.

Also present were the prime minister's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, and Wanita BN chairman Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.
