Ghani's good ties with Chinese will be key in Gelang Patah

Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman's good relationship with the Chinese community in the state will make the battle for the Gelang Patang parliamentary seat one to watch out for, said The Star's executive director and group chief editor Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai.
Speculation is rife that Abdul Ghani will take on DAP heavyweight Lim Kit Siang for the seat.
"If Abdul Ghani is to contest, it will be a very challenging and exciting prospect as he is seen as someone who is quite popular among the Chinese community there.
"The word is that Ghani is prepared to fight (Lim) Kit Siang for the seat," he said during an interview on the programme GE13: The Showdown, hosted by broadcast journalist Anne Edwards.
Speculation is mounting in Johor that Lim may not have the easy passage he is expecting in Gelang Patah with several state Umno leaders asking Abdul Ghani to square off with Lim.
