Civil servants have expressed
their disappointment over the word 'kera' (monkey), which they were
labelled by Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) candidate for Johor Baharu
parliamentary seat General (R) Tan Sri Md Hashim Hussein.
Many of them are in the opinion that such a statement such not be
issued by a former top military officer, even though he had joined the
opposition party.
Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) Public Relations Officer Major
Kamarulzaman Ali, 41, said Md Hashim should be thankful to the goverment
as he was once a part of the civil service.
"He should be proud to have served in the government and shouldn't go on condemning the government after his retirement.
"When he labelled the civil servants as 'kera', he is also insulting
himself because the majority of them (opposition members) are also
former civil servants," he told Bernama here today.
For RMAF Subang Warrant Officer Mohdan Amran, 38, such a rude statement
should not be issued by any candidates in their bid to fish for votes.
"I think if we want to campaign, we still have to do it in a
respectable manner, especially in this multi-racial society. We should't
 touch anybody's sensitivity," he said.
A Customs Department clerk in Putrajaya, Noraziah Ramli, 30, on the
other hand, felt that Md Hashim was being ungrateful like a person who
had forgotten his root.
"He shouldn't have said that. As civil servants, we will remain
satisfied and supportive to the government's decisions and policies.
"We also promised to stay loyal to the government which had done so much for the people," she added.

If the ex-army labelled civil servant as mongkey then he is also labelling himself as a retired monkey, plunging into politics shouldn't make him an ungrateful person...is there a way for to cut his pension...or take back the TAN SRI..maybe he did not deserve the title
