Barisan Nasional will unveil its manifesto this Saturday and will announce its general election candidates a few days later.
Its chairman Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak
said the early introduction of the coalition's manifesto was to allow
the people to gain a good understanding of Barisan's promises should it
be retained as government.
"The manifesto is our akujanji (pledge) to the people of Malaysia.
"With the mandate given, God willing we will commit the Barisan
government to undertake renewal and changes in line with objective which
is to further develop the economy and improve their well-being," he
said.
He said that candidates would be announced early to give
enough time for those chosen to make necessary preparations as well as
to introduce themselves to voters.
Najib said he would wait for
the Election Commission to decide and announce polling and nomination
dates before revealing the date which Barisan would unveil its
candidates.
Najib had earlier chaired back-to-back meetings
where he met with Umno supreme council members and later Barisan
component party presidents.
