Power Of 10 Sen Targets To Raise RM300,000

KUALA LUMPUR, March 9 (Bernama) -- Power of 10 Sen: Gaza Dibela, By Children for Children, a campaign to mobilise Malaysian children to collect donations to help Palestinian children suffering in the armed conflict in Gaza, targets to raise RM300,000.

"It is very timely to launch this campaign as children are always the biggest victims of war. They deserve to grow up in a peaceful environment with parental love and good education.
"Even though there are already some NGOs (non-governmental organisations) and agencies collecting funds for war victims, it is never enough as so much has to be done to rebuild war-torn Gaza," she said when launching the campaign at Dewan Tunku Canselor, UM, here Monday.
Also present were UPF Asia co-chairman Dr Lek Thaveetermsakul, UPF Malaysia president Tan Sri Zaleha Ismail and MRCS national chairman Tan Sri Tunku Shahriman Tunku Sulaiman.
Earlier, Tunku Shahriman in his speech said the funds collected would be channelled to the MRCS International Relief Fund for Gaza launched on Jan 7 and used for humanitarian programmes in Gaza.
He said MRCS would assist to distribute 10,000 donation boxes to schools nationwide while the National Unity and Integration Department would distribute 5,000 donation boxes to kindergartens. "Power of 10 Sen: Gaza Dibela, By Children for Children teaches children the rewards of sharing and working together to bring hope and opportunities to Palestinian children. "By making contributions as little as a few sen through the donation boxes in schools, universities and other locations, young Malaysians will learn that a small change can make a huge change," he said.
