Website Proposed For Public To Access Info On Stimulus Package

KUALA LUMPUR, March 12 (Bernama) -- A backbencher today suggested that the government create a website for the public to access information on the implementation of the RM60 billion second economic stimulus package.
Liang Teck Meng (BN-Simpang Renggam) said this would also enhance accountability in the implementation and help build public trust that there would be no misappropriation.
"This is also to avoid the stimulus package to be played up as an issue for political mileage by the opposition," he said when debating on the Supply Bill 2009 (Second Stimulus Package) in the Dewan Rakyat today.
Liang said there should be no slipshod measures in addressing the effects of the shrinking economy.
He also urged the government to look at the current situation where banks were being conservative with regards to providing loans to housing developers, which could stifle the growth of the real estate market.
Liang said the banks were also reducing facilities for small- and medium-scale enterprises, thus threatening their survival following falling demand for products.
He also suggested that the agreements made between the government and highway concessionaires be reviewed to avoid burdening the people with higher tolls.

tunku : a very good idea.this is what some have suggested before.the rakyat should know the details of the implementation of the stimulus package.while website is for people who surfs internet, printing and electronic media is for the others.RTM can have a special programme on the implementation and the progress of the stimulus package.it is a plus point for the government by doing this.
