Tun Mahathir in stable condition


In KUALA LUMPUR, Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir told reporters that his father, who had been in a semi-conscious state after being sedated by doctors, was now able to drink on his own.
"He even joked with me that the apparatus that helps him breathe is much smaller than his nose," he said.
Mukhriz said that following several tests, doctors advised his father to remain at the IJN for the next few days.
He said that he received many calls, including from overseas, enquiring about Dr Mahathir's condition.
"On behalf of my family, I'd like to thank all those who have sent SMS, MMS and e-mails, including from Australia and United Kingdom, offering prayers for my father's recovery," he said.
In a statement, IJN said Dr Mahathir was in a stable condition without any breathing complications, and that he had eaten porridge at 3pm.
Except for close family members, the former prime minister is not to receive any visitors for the moment.
Among those who visited Dr Mahathir were opposition leader Lim Kit Siang, DAP Member of Parliament for Kepong Dr Tan Seng Giaw and prominent businessman T. Ananda Krishnan.
Dr Mahathir, who arrived in Langkawi with Dr Siti Hasmah yesterday for a two-day private visit, was driven to the Langkawi Hospital by his private physician, Dr Nasir Muda, after he complained of breathing difficulties and was warded in the intensive care unit.
Prior to this, the couple was in Bukit Merah, Perak, for a reunion of the "Class of 47" of King Edward College of Medicine, Singapore.
Another of Dr Mahathir's sons, Datuk Mokhzani, said his father was now in the Coronary Care Unit.
"He spoke to us and asked for food because he was hungry," he said.
"On behalf of my family, I would like to thank all those who are concerned and have called to enquire about his health," he added

tunku : pak lah said he was unsure of the actual status of Dr Mahathir's condition, citing his hectic schedule on this island resort.
"But I hope that he'll fully recover," he told reporters after talks with his Singaporean counterpart, Lee Hsien Loong, here Tuesday.if you are sincere pak lah you can spend at least 10 minutes for him.
