CGG Wants PR To Implement The Local Council Elections

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 16 (Bernama) -- The Coalition for Good Governance (CGG) wants the opposition coalition or 'Pakatan Rakyat' (PR) to fulfill their commitments to the people made at various platforms prior to and during the 2008 General Election.
The CGG, that is based in Petaling Jaya, is a coalition of civil society organisations which aims to promote and defend principles based on universal human rights, democratic governance, non-discrimination, equality, and people's participation.
The Chairperson of CGG, Maria Chin Abdullah, said the Pakatan Rakyat needed to fulfill their promises to reinstate local elections for municipal and local councils.
"In PR's manifesto in the 2008 General Elections promised in item nine of its vision for a constitutional state, (that they would) reinstate with immediate effect local elections for municipal and local councils to create greater accountability at every level of its government," she said in a statement here Wednesday.
The Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (BERSIH), whose membership includes all the three PR component parties, also promised the need to re-introduce elections for local authorities in order for Malaysians to participate actively, she said.

tunku : in kelantan pas had failed to implement hudud which they promised after almost 20 years of ruling the state.so i guess the promise on having local council election will take the pr at least another 20 years to fulfill.the promises were made without any thoughts, just to fish for votes.lim guan eng said within a year of their ruling there would be no more hardcore poverty but look at penang, there are lots of hardcore poverty and lots of people are without jobs now.don't trust them anymore.

Dear Tunku,

The other day I debated wit my friend about PAS. As I raised about why PAS did not implement HUDUD in Kelantan after 20years of ruling. He replied Kelantan doesn't get approval from Federal Government to do so. Is it true? Can u explain a little bit about it?

Dear Tunku,

"RACISM

"Saya berharap semua ahli DAP berhati-hati dalam menjalankan gerakan kita. Kita semakin hampir dan DS Anwar Ibrahim tidak boleh berbuat apa-apa. Ingat, gerakan kita adalah untuk anak bangsa kita yang selalu dikeji oleh Melayu. Ayuh, bangsa Cina, kuasai dan rebut apa yang Melayu tidak mampu. Jangan kita terhutang budi dengan Melayu...."

Dear Anon 17Dec/10.39,
The most helpless person is one who depends on others to do things or blames others for not being able to do anything.
Example; "I cannot be PM on 16th Sept because Badawi do not let me."
The opposite would be; "You British screw us so I am implementing Look East Policy".
About Hudud, I think PAS has said that Hudud is not high on their priority list.
Hope the above information helps.
Kiryu.
