Najib made Finance Minister

PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi announced he would be handing over the Finance Ministry portfolio to his deputy.
The Prime Minister announced this at a press conference Wednesday.
Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak would take over as Finance Minister effective immediately.
The move is part of the agreed transition plan which both Abdullah and Najib reaffirmed on Wednesday.
In July, Abdullah and Najib agreed to the transition plan for the Prime Minister to hand over power to him in 2010. The plan was endorsed by the party supreme council later.

Najib takes over as finance minister

Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi today said he would pass on his finance portfolio to his deputy Najib Abdul Razak, while he takes over as defence minister.
Abdullah told a press conference this afternoon that the swap in the cabinet posts will take effect immediately.
The prime minister, who has held the post of finance minister since 2004, said he had informed the cabinet about the decision.
Abdullah also said that he may step down earlier than 2010 depending on Najib's performance.
However, both leaders nevertheless reaffirmed their commitment to the 2010 power transition plan.

There has been increasing pressure for Abdullah to quit earlier but it now appeared that Najib has stitched a deal with his boss to placate the demands from the Umno grassroots.

tunku: the sign of pak lah retiring soon or may be pak lah is telling najib supporters to cool down and wait till 2010.first time in history pm is also defence minister......

Saya fikir ada beberapa perkara penting yang harus dilakukan:

1. Pak Lah elok melepaskan jawatan PM sebelum Disember ini.

2. Khairy Jamaludin usah bertanding jawatan Ketua Pemuda UMNO. Kalau perlu, kekalkan saja sebagai Naib Ketua Pemuda. Lagi pun, dia masih muda.

Fikirkanlah.

Or alternatively, it is sign of Pak Lah's failure to man the national economy?

It’s just a big cover up on PM incompetence; PM is incompetent to defend the SUPER 2009 Budget with DSAI in front facing him in parliament. So PM rather let Najib face the music with the financial shit he has created. I doubt the switch has much to do keeping with the transition plan or an early exit by PM. Why should PM keep the Defence Portfolio – to benefit from a big new contract coming out? For heaven’s sake, pass the defence portfolio to someone else! The change is inadequate to appease the population or help in the economics of the country. There’s still Kalimullah lurking and spinning around, SIL and son keeping their watchful eyes on the Treasury and contracts even though not in the cabinet, etc…..

Siapa2 pun diantara mereka ni pegangn mana2 jawatan tu takpa. Mereka masih boleh dipercayai dan mampu untuk menjalankan tugas mereka. Jangan Anwar yang dapat pegang semua benda tu sudah. Esok entah apa jadi dekat Malaysia ni nanti.

Is the country under real threat of political instability and racial unrest?
Dolah 'flip flop' taking charge of the military!
Hey what's going on?
Why is that whenever this guy make a move, I don't feel good.
God help us.
